Re: Things you remember watching but can't remember the name of

Had a dream about this, so not 100% sure it's real. Children's animated movie, probably late 80s to early 90s. Had an anthropomorphic tree named something like Tekwin(Tequoin?) Sedin. Tree was male, so definitely not Pocahontas. Didn't do anything, just talked.

Re: Sleep-time holodeck experiences

Was watching a children's movie from when I was young. All I can remember is it having a talking tree named something like Tekwin(Tequoin?) Sedin. It was not Pocahontas. Was on a grassy field with a group of people. We were looking at animals, mainly giant turtles. There was one whose shell was over...

The other side of that that I think sardia is talking about is if you want to sell anything in China. Yes, you are right about how they do business when a US company sets up a factory over there. But what if you want to sell your lawnmower in China? It's a market with 3 billion people. The governmen...

Re: Trump presidency

So had a chat with the CEO of a medical device manufacturer. They build items that need aluminum. There are 2 manufacturers in the USA that make something close to what they need - not the exact thing, but maybe usable. Except those two don't give a fuck about their customers because they now have a...

Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

The price of a powerball ticket doubled a few years ago because they learned more people play for larger sums. No one seems to care about a $30 million jackpot anymore. When it hits $300 million, all the local news stations talk about it.

Non-fiction stuff: I read Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics, which seemed appropriate for me. So glad I didn't buy it. Hated the writing, hated the author. It should have been a ten page pamphlet of meditation help, not 150+ pages of filler about how he likes biking and is a yuppie. Tim Ferriss: Also ...

Well Pruitt is out. I guess that's good. He's a corrupt son of a bitch that should be locked up. Instead, he'll go into industry, get paid high six figures, maybe more, and fade into history as a terrible person. Or, actually, nearly all the games in my library. So... hmm. Any suggestions for games that are low demand on the syste...

I dont mind the steam controller, except for some lag issues, which might be related to interference and not the controller itself. Thought about using a 360 controller, but don't really want to spend money on the required dongle. I need it to be wireless, so can't use a wired controller or just pl...

The Steam Link is currently at 95% off, making it £2 + shipping. I guess it's a fairly niche bit of hardware, as it often ends up ludicrously reduced - I think I picked mine up for something similar. But shipping is still £7 or so - Amazon Prime has spoiled me. Yeah, I have one, and was considering...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

I'm getting a little tired of Civ. On the one hand I do enjoy the game, on the other it is a slog, especially when playing at Immortal. On standard maps or larger, culture victories are pointless. Pretty much the only way to do a culture victory is pretend diplomatic and science victories don't exis...

Steam summer sale is here. I didn't really see any big deals. I picked up Portal 1+2, and the Halflife series. I already owned both, but Portal was on console, Halflife 2 was on a different steam account. Not bad for $6 I think.
