Re: Favorite Time Signatures

Someone already mentioned it but "First Circle" by Pat Metheney is a great song. I loved both playing it and listening to it. "Rhythm Song" is a fun one in 7/4. "Cop Drama" has some weird time signatures, but is still fun to play -- one bar of 15/16, and a pretty long 1...

Re: Studying in a foreign land...

The Study Abroad Office at my university has lists of programs by major that you can look at. The programs that aren't in a specific foreign-language major generally have options to take all-English classes. I would say at least half of the programs don't have any language requirements at all... the...

Re: ¡Hablamos español! (Spanish Practice)

¿Has viajado a los Estados Unidos?

Re: Language practice threads [new: Korean]

I've been taking Spanish for quite a few years now, and am fairly competent -- I can pretty much understand things, as long as it's not too colloquial, and I can make myself understood I just started taking Armenian, and would love to have someone to practice with... Although I doubt there are many ...

¡Hola todos! Me olvidé si ya he escrito algo aquí...

Re: Quick question for the other ladies (sports bras)

I definitely feel your pain -- I have either a G or H cup depending on the bra. I don't know what stores would be around you, but for me, Dillard's has been wonderful for finding bras. They have sports bras for the well-endowed woman, and they've made it so I can actually jog, without being in sever...

Re: Languages for Reading

I think Spanish is fun to read... Being a native English speaker, I'm not used to the really flowery, metaphorical, figurative language that is incredibly common (in the brief school-related exposure I've had). I think the imagery in Spanish is a lot more enjoyable. Translations, though, not so much.

The vast majority times I've used "Sure" as an affirmative have been in response to questions. (SW U.S.) I don't think I'd use it to agree with another person's statement, though.

Would "therewithal" count? The last "l" was dropped, but it's technically still three words. As is "wherewithal".

At my school, we're not allowed to bring backpacks for the last two weeks of school. However, dufflebags, plastic and paper shopping bags, and purses as large as or larger than the typical backpacks are allowed. And if you have a zero hour class, or just show up to school 20-30 minutes early, no one...
