Re: 1849: "Decades"

I'd argue it takes 8-12 years following the close of a decade before everyone has settled on that decade's identity, and that this comic is a bit premature. Aughts and teens are awkward terms (compared to 70s, 80s, 90s), but I posit we're not yet far enough out of the aughts for the nostalgia to ha...

My Hobby: Sometimes I like to punch in 1:90 or similar, just to mix things up. Given: a numeric pad with digits 0-9, plus a key for "one minute" that will accept multiple presses. Given also: a few seconds either way isn't going to make a lot of difference to how cooked your food is. My H...

Re: 1448: "Question"

Wait, Asimov wrote Sci-fi, too? (My parents had a copy of Lecherous Limerics , which I read thoroughly at a tender age. When I picked up the book again, many years later, they seemed rather objectionable: crude, misogynistic and thoroughly unreconstructed). He also wrote mysteries. Basically, I, Ro...

Yabut... I lived in Mexico for a year, and learned enough Spanish to get me through it. I noticed that Spanish is utterly unlike English, in that there is only one way to spell a word with a certain sound, so homonyms are ultra-rare. Yet, Americans elect stupid people to high public office at least...

Re: 1230: "Polar/Cartesian"

The title-text got to me. If a graph represents a function from time to coordinates, that impies that the output of the function is a tuple of at least 2 numbers ("coordinates"). e.g.: f(1 second) = (2,3) Since you are plotting a function of time, convention suggests the x-axis represents...

One of my favorite parts: This is more promising. The Sun is really bright[citation needed] and its light illuminates the Earth.[citation needed] Did you click the links? That 's my favourite part of it. what kind of link is site:craigslist.org+chevrolet+citation supposed to be? It's a formatted Go...

Re: 1190: "Time"

I kind of hope its not over. It was definitely a fun experience if it is. I loved reading about people trying to figure out it worked and if they could crack the code. And other people getting frustrated with them because they couldn't just watch. It's a good thing he made it basically impossible in...

Re: 1190: "Time"

I love how everyone is coming up with completely crazy theories from just two people sitting on a beach, and then building a sandcastle. Everything from the strip ending, to Randall is dying, to Randall's SO is dying, to they're expecting, to they've fucking miscarried ... Yeah it's all quite silly...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Did anybody have the foresight to screencap the earlier versions of the comic? I've only seen one where one is laying and the other standing and the current one with the man kneeling and the girl in the castle. I don't know how many there have been. Here is the gif someone made which has most of th...

If you really want to annoy most web developers, all you have to do is design pages in Comic Sans. Or format anything that isn't a link in underlined blue text. I don't know about here, but on another forum they consider that the sign of the Antichrist. I'll admit to trying to click really. I expec...

/Off topic: has anyone asked about getting the link to the forums put back on the main page? It seems so much quieter around here to me since the link got replaced by the "What If" button. Probably, but it can't hurt to repeat it. It's really annoying to not be able to get to the forums r...

Nice job there. Just goes to show the difference in reaction to the 11 Sept 2001 attacks has been inside the USA and in the rest of the English-speaking world. When it first happened, I think non-Americans generally referred to it as "11th September bombings" or similar. However, over tim...
