Re: faster-than-light ergosphere highway

Traveling faster than light would give a whole weird set of paradoxes (and since I don't understand Tachyons) I doubt that it will ever happen.

Photons and gravity...

So Photons have no mass. Something needs a mass to be affected by gravity. So why is light able to be sucked into a black hole?

Am I stupid or just missing something?

Re: Take-Two signs 'BioShock' movie deal with Universal

There's a good storyline, thats for sure. As long as the film is just half as atmospheric as the game it should be good.

Re: Science fiction weapons

I remember hearing about the Japanese trying to make some sort of death ray during WW2 based on Microwaves (I think it was on a history channel documentary). Anyway, they failed because the subject has to stay still, which I definitely wouldn't be doing if I saw someone pointing a deathray at me. Al...

Re: Best *nix Desktop Environment/Window Manager/whatever

I've only ever used Gnome and KDE. I might give XFCE a try.

I prefer KDE to Gnome just because I think it looks nicer and has some good custom built apps.

Apart from that I have no other reasons really.

Re: A-Levels '08

Depends on the exam boards really.... On Monday I had Maths in the morning followed by two history exams in the afternoon. I'm pretty sure I'll get a decent grade in maths, a half decent grade in the first history and a crap grade in the last. I hate having more than one exam on the same day. I can'...

Exactly. This bothers me. :|

However, if I had the of only one or the other I'd choose faster than light travel.

Re: A-Levels '08

I've only got Mechanics 2 left to go now.

Its just over a week away and I need to revise the whole lot again because I've forgotten it all. Which sucks because almost everyone I know has finished their exams by now.

Re: Theoretically... Stop Time or Travel Faster than it

I'm by no means an expert, but isn't it completely impossible to travel faster than light?
