Re: Avatar: The Last Hairbender & Legend of Korra

I'm curious if you recognize the sort of contradiction to what you just said... Amon was spirit bending, which is why it took spirit bending to restore both Katara and Lin's bending. The show was very clear in pointing out that Amon never used Spirit-bending. He probably just used Blood-ben...

Re: Avatar: The Last Hairbender & Legend of Korra

Aang was taught how to spirit bend (by the way, HOW DID AMON LEARN TO SPIRIT BEND?!), and then battled Ozai, begging him twice to stand down. Amon never used Spirit-bending. His ability to (not-so-)permanently remove bending came from his unmatched skill as a Blood-bender. That'...

Korra Book 1 finale: I didn't think too much of Korra going to a cliff to cry, since we'd seen her do it before. The theory suggested here is that the shot of the teardrop falling off Korra's face into the sea below means that Korra was leaning out over the cliff because she was contemp...

Spoiler:
So, we finally get to see some air-bending action from Tenzin. I must say, I think he handled himself rather well in that fight.

Also, metal-bending apparently doesn't work on pure plotinum.

Guys, this rape stuff is just a cheap emotional appeal. I see no comparison, and as such it's silly to ask me to disprove a comparison that you haven't adequately explained in the first place. Your argument is "anything that does not cause (significant) harm (to most people)" is OK for pa...

I don't think it requires a "calculated" decision in that exact moment, as much as it requires that people are just taught they shouldn't help others because it could seriously backfire - this seems to be an easy instinct to learn, so I don't think it's much of a stretch to assume somethi...

I'm not quite sure why CNN didn't mention that, since it seems to be pretty much the accepted explanation for why this happened with the little girl. Such a terrible tragedy. It is mentioned in the CNN article linked to in the OP. I'm not sure why you would think it's the "accepted explanation...

Exctracting (not converting) MP3 from MKV

I have a Matroska container with nothing but an MP3-file in it. I would like to extract it.

If at all possible, I want to avoid converting anything, as the audio stream is already in MP3 format. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?

You'll want to wait a week before deciding, since AMD (ATI is no more) will release a new family of GPU:s then. Won't they be expensive? Or will there be mid-level cards as well? Even if they only launch with high end cards, that pushes the value of cards already on the market down. If AMD launches...

The one thing I think looks somewhat disproportionate is the HDD. A Caviar Green is great for storage, less so for use as a system drive. I suggest you consider getting a SSD. They're pricey, but you will not regret getting one. On another note, with that motherboard + PSU combo I assume you intend ...

Sounds like the card is broken. Even without any sort of drivers it should function as a generic display adapter during POST and in the BIOS. A test by Consumer Reports confirms that the iPhone 4 does suffer from poor reception, and that the problem isn't (only) AT&T. Not necessarily a deal-breaker, as it is apparently easily remedied with some tape. It does however seem somewhat retarded to buy a $1000 phone that doesn't work properl...

The CPU seems disproportionally weak in relation to the other components. It may not bottleneck this particular system, but it most definitely will when you throw another graphics card in there. I'd suggest a Phenom II instead. You can easily shave of a 100 W or so from the PSU and still have enough...

No reason to waste space with FLAC, or anything lossless, on a portable media player (PMP).
