Re: "House of Pancakes" Discussion

Is the serial comma the same as the Oxford comma? Yes, the serial comma and the Oxford comma are the same thing. Now, onto the comic itself. I am so thankful that I came in here to read the comments. It makes me feel not so very alone for having read it and not thinking it's the greatest book EVAR....

Re: 'Upcoming Hurricanes' discussion

I, for one, actually know where Bermuda is and recognize just how far north it is. This is because I played Sid Meier's Pirates! for hundreds of hours on the Commodore 64 and NES. (not to mention XBox and PSP) Mind you, it was completely worthless to get there because it took like half a year to get...

Re: "Know Your Vines" Discussion

It's surprising that with the talk of rope that no one brought up Boondock Saints, although I'm sure that joke would get old fast on the forums. Anyways, overall an enjoyable comic. :) I must confess that "Oooh, what are you gonna use the stupid rope for?" did run through my head more tha...

Re: "Know Your Vines" Discussion

If you're playing with thin rope like shoelaces, you want to tie loops with square knots so they won't get tighter, and leave a finger's worth of slack. Re: xkcd loves the Discovery Channel

Not so practical in the forum but Kesmille, couldn't you have just don't done an image map? EDIOT: Spelling Unfortunately, my fu is weak when it comes to things like that, so it didn't even cross my mind. My fu is much stronger in things that I've had actual training in, such as thermodynamics/...

xkcd loves the Discovery Channel

Yes, yes, I too am one of those people who registered just to make a comment on just how awesome this comic was. HOWEVER! I've done a bit more. I took the comic, chopped it up into individual frames, and put individual links in to go back to the comic or whatever it most closely references, so that ...

Re: Intro thread

Hello, I've been reading xkcd via Livejournal for some time (hush, you. I've had an account there since 2001; inertia has set in.). I'm Kevin, a self-proclaimed nerd and geek 1 , 31 years of age living in Carrollton, TX, though originally from Muncie, IN. Currently, I make water drinkable for a livi...
