Keep Trying

Not that I can beat 75, but I finally broke into the 60s with a second hour of tries. Whose the Shogun now? "Daim yo Shogun now ninja-boy!" http://forums.xkcd.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=11503 Seriously, if you are able to get past a mob of death like this, wha...

I think I know the problem too, its very simple and ultimately biological. If I could refer you to figure 4.9:

Well, this is no proof, but as a thought experiment I would conjecture that the tiling can be done without any overlap. My thinking is that using Skeptical Scientist's established proof using a well-ordering, from that point on you need to fill the half-by-half tiles with our infinite series of squa...

PHP , which stands for "PHP Hypertext Preprocessor". Honestly, the PHP part could still be a word. Could someone go through and list all the combinations we have already done? I am wondering how many letter combinations are left that aren't impossible or trivially easy. At this point I am...

Well, if we are allowing chemical names, I bet there is an rfm in betatetraiodohydroxyphenoxyphenylalphaaminopropionic acid somewhere... but not wanting to find it myself, lets just go on to the rodeo clowns of the racetrack -- tu rfm en. Unless you count the jockeys, those guys are pretty funny too...

Ah c'mon, you can't drop a doozy like that and then withhold the solution.

Returning to the sequential letters system, how about a dirty word with a ghi in it?

If you could give a formal definition of the problem, I'd take a crack at it. Right now I can't figure out how the brothers take turns making offers (Are you suggesting that one of the younger pirates can suggest a counter offer to what the older pirate suggests without mutinying, and then the oldes...

Well, raptor farms... something something... manners... mumble... napkins folded...

Ok, I really give up. If anyone can make even a vaguely funny joke about raptors, tractors, and napkins, please share it with usq all.

Thats strange, but I actually prefer the problem the other way around now. There is something aesthetically pleasing about convincing the second youngest brother that he would rather live and get nothing, than inevitably die and get nothing. Good work.

The Pirate Proof [Solution Thread]

***WARNING -- SPOILER INCLUDED IN THIS POST*** I couldn't tell from other problems here whether the author of the problem was supposed to immediately post his solution, or whether the solution thread was where people guess at solutions, making the main thread just a place to make inquiries about the...

The Pirate Proof

Of all the meanest pirates that have ever sailed the seven seas, the Ecksor Brothers were certainly guilty of committing the coldest hearted crimes. You see, these five brothers were absolutely calculating, vindictive, and sadistic, they would kill their own mother for a profit, and they saw through...

I just cooked my dinner over charcoal briquettes. Although I wish the fish I cooked hailed from Fiji, I was looking for a word you don't capitalize containing my iji.
