Re: 1190: "Time"

Just pushed out a closing set of updates to xkcd.aubronwood.com, including auto-pausing for special frames. However, most fun of which (in my own opinion) is the secret ability to add a ?youtube=YOUTUBEID and make background music for the comic.

Thanks for all the support! <3

http://xkcd.aubronwood.com/ is updated through current, though my auto-update stuff isn't working, so if this goes past midnight it will lag behind significantly for a little while, until i make a proper auto-updater tomorrow.

Re: 1190: "Time"

My mirror of the first comic just went down. Does anyone have the URL/a Mirror for the first photo?

Until I get it it'll be missing from http://aubronwood.com/singlefileprojects/xkcd.php

In which xkcd is home to the most popular comic stream of all time.

North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Team 900 from Durham, NC just got this emailed to them from our adult mentor. Loved it, hoping for the best in nat'ls this year. Are you going to stop by the competition Randall? I think we'd probably happily sign you on as an adult mentor for our tea...

Of course BHG knows they're coming. One has to hope his girlfriend is preparing for something to stop them... I miss her.

WHY IS "COMPLETELY" MISSING ITS "O"? The second I read the comic I noticed that there are a few missing/changed letters. Looks a lot like a code, but I can't quite get it. The ones I've found, in order: 1. NANCIENT (should be ancient, maybe the NA is part of the hidden message?)...

Re: "Secretary: Part 2"

The epicness of this comic was astounding.

When Randall does a series, they're normally pretty sweet. I'm interested to see where his girlfriend is going to fit into all of this.

A: Yes, incorrectly copied and posted. SPANNING.

B: The height mattered for nothing except for novelty that we were equating an xkcd.

I feel it's getting a bit complex for a three second timespan.

I did later take a stab at using a R-K, but with little noticeable difference.

Why just-out-of-college Calc Teachers are Awesome

Our AP Calc BC work yesterday was based entirely around variations of the following question. Suppose that There is a cliff, near infinitely high, spawning the relative height from earth's surface of the entire observable universe. For the sake of simplicity, let us assume that... somehow... the gra...

Re: "Fiction Rule of Thumb" Discussion

Rowling bases a lot of her made up words in Latin, a lot of them being actual latin statements, and most of her fictional creatures are pulled from mythology. What she writes isn't Latin, its just English words with Latin endings. Wingardium Leviosa being the most annoying of these, as Latin doesn'...

Re: "Fiction Rule of Thumb" Discussion

Hmm. I'm not sure if I quite agree with this one. I've read a lot of good books that had quite a few made-up words. But yeah, I guess, if there are too many made-up words, it makes it harder to read, and therefore less interesting. But it's better than boring vocabulary. And I'm surprised no one's ...
