Re: Cool games on the interweb redux

I really liked logic box, but, as always, how you "mark" these sorts of things is contentious. For instance, here's my solution to 12 http://i49.tinypic.com/9u5ker.jpg and here's a version with fewer parts http://i1338.photobucket.com/albums/o692/technoshaman0/Jahooma%20LogicBox/r12_zpsfc...

Re: Should we have only an wordy-writey-meaning-conveying-wi

I have no idea why Dutch is being censored into Esperanto, but I find it rather amusing. I'm giving up on understanding anything written here, though. You were right about me being from the Netherlands. And it is nice here for foreigners as far as language is concerned, which is why it's pointless t...

Re: Should we have only one language? (And other questions)

Thanks for all the answers, they help me a lot with ideas. I personally woll-did not like to have only one language, simply because I like learning new ones and discussing the differences between them. But I also understand why one woll-did want it. I be-did in France last year and we visited a sch...

Re: Should we have only one language? (And other questions)

I am a native Dutch speaker. I also speak English (fluently), German (well), Portuguese (okay-ly), French (poorly), Mandarin Chinese (very poorly) and just a little dab of Romanian. I lived in Portugal for half a year and am currently living in Germany (since a year and a half ago). I learned Englis...

Re: Gun Control

As a European, I find the gun control debate to be quite interesting. I am personally in favour of the strictest gun laws, but I can see why people would want some guns. Where the NRA and other gun-lovers lose me, however, is with the refusal to look at assault rifles. In my opinion, I don't see ho...

Re: Gender Neutrality in Language

I generally subscribe to the "whatever you want me to use" school of thought. I personally like (s)he, since it's fairly simple, but such combinations don't really work well for everything. Hir? Hes? And then we're not even getting into other languages. They is grammatically correct in the...

And I'll be buying the expansion anyway. The gameplay is good enough to deserve it. The Internet situation just annoys me. But I see your point. I didn't think about it enough, apparently.

Re: The DRM thread

I wouldn't consider not buying Spore a negative thing. As far as disappointments go, Spore ranks pretty highly. Well, it's a negative thing for EA, which was a large part of my point. Because it looked really awesome for a while (though did have that "overhyped?" feel), and by the time EA...

What DRM methods have affected you? Steam. (Not adversely affecting me per se, but by refusing to transfer a duplicate Portal license to a friend (I bought Portal then later the Orange Box) kept that friend from the game.) Whatever KOTOR2 uses, by making it a bitch to install. How do you deal with ...

In all seriousness, it looks like a hug is a good idea at this point. So they can go back to the important task of building a sandcastle.

After playing around with the pics a bit, I'm pretty sure it's zooming out, and it's not a landslide or anything of the sort. And if it is zooming out, what's it zooming out to? I like Sinfest. It's one of the few comics I try to read every day. But in recent weeks/months his work has been very feministic. Which isn't bad but it's just not something that works all the time, just as xkcd works really well because it's not math jokes all the time. I do love the whole Fuchsia/...

To be honest with you, I don't agree with the message of this strip. Why? Well, put simply: there are legitimate complaints to be made about people. But I don't think that's the point of the strip. I'd say the point of the strip is: wouldn't you rather talk about giant squids? I don't think the com...

Never thought I'd say this, because I almost always find something good in an XKCD comic, but I didn't really care for today's strip. I once spent a rather pleasant hour doing all kinds of things on a couple of those moving sidewalks (nobody used them), from moonwalking to walking backwards against it. That was a lot of fun.
