Re: blink = think? (Interview[s] with Sarah Palin)

I. I like to think people overseas see the strange duality that exists here, and don't assume the majority's in favor of theocracy. Definitely, it seems clear that there is a substantial number of commited secularists in america, it's just that as a voting bloc the fundamentalists really punch hard...

help.

i´m not sure if this is the right place, but let me know if it isn´t and i´ll move it. my problem is this, I´ve been offered the opportunity to do a funded Phd. I´m a dancer and so unused to heavy theory, formal methodologies and all of the serious accoutrements of hardcore academia and i need to do...

Re: blink = think? (Interview[s] with Sarah Palin)

Well, perhaps i´d better restrict myself to saying that it´s a major worry in my social circles. I´m sure that there are many more politically savvy folk more worried about Palins international policy stance and so forth, and i'd not argue that her religious beliefs are more of an issue. But the ris...

Re: blink = think? (Interview[s] with Sarah Palin)

i´m irish and living in spain and so purely a spectator here, firstly. The scariest thing about palin for a lot of people over here is the fact that she's a creationist and is in favour of 'equal time' in schools. i haven´t seen it mentioned here, so i´m curious as to how ye feel about it?

Re: the most epic book debate ever conceived (Bookmarks)

All bookmarks should be unlaminated and of a gauge thin enough to make a serviceable roach.
On this i stand firm.

although sometimes i just use another book, each retaining the relevant page in the other...

Re: David Foster Wallace

i hadn´t heard anything about this until now. shit. i don´t have a copy of infinite jest anymore, because i kept pushing it at people with a feverish glint in my eye ("No, really, you haveto read it") then taking it back a few months later when they admitted they weren´t going to. Over and ...

Re: Strange or even mildly amusing things about your body

There's also some sort of dead spot on my right big toe. I've got no feeling there whatsoever and the skin is a slighly different colour, no idea what it could be.

It means you're a witch.

Re: Think Before Naming Your Child

I had a friend called Sean Foy, and when he and his partner were having a girlchild we had him nearly convinced to call her Electra or Petra (It works best in an irish accent). in the end they called her Elly-May which really isn't much of an improvement.

Re: Strange or even mildly amusing things about your body

Hi, i'm new. my right arm is only about a foot and a half long from the shoulder, with no elbow and only 2 stubby fingers (neither opposable) each with only two knuckles. I'm a dancer so the slight weight imbalance meakes me list when i pirouette but because i spent so much time tumbling when i was ...
