Re: Mortality

I'm really young, only eighteen, but I'm not really afraid of death. It's simply another phase of life, and I don't believe in a free will rather in predestination, so I guess that leads me to believe when I go, I go. So it goes. I guess religious beliefs greatly influence my view on life. How do ot...

Re: My decent into Atheism and Death

For fear, there must be a distiction made between what you are afraid of constantly, and what is more of a situational fear. Is your fear of your hands being mutilated situational? I would think yes. The idea of to not live your life in fear, or live a fearless life means to live in the absence of c...

Oh my, the number of hours i've logged playing flash games is bound to be countless. Somehow, they seem to have more entertainment value than starcraft or counterstrike, two games i thought were infinitely entertaining and fun. Do the math. Re: Hardest Major

What about music ed? Requires an insane amount of credits, easily more than any other major because it requires performance credits on a primary instrument, and you have to learn piano. Requires ear training which of most people it would be hilarious to see them try to do, even for music majors it's...

Re: Directive 51

The question was whether or not we thought that it was likely that the directive would be instated. Not whether or not the president would be very likely to help end the initial event that allowed the directive to be instated in the first place. I still think it's very likely that Bush will use it t...

Re: Directive 51

Not to burst your bubble Indon, but that directive was signed by Bush, click on the first link and you'll see that it was signed on May 9th of last year. Now back to the original post. I personally have been thinking Bush would do this for a while. Here's some interesting things to note from the act...

Re: Composers vs. Performers

Since we're on the topic of Bach i'll add my 2 cents. I agree that he would be fine with experimentation to an extent. I don't think he would be fine with you going in and changing the overall structure of his say Brandenburg concertos or his double violin concerto due to the way that they were comp...

Re: The cause of the current financial crisis - cultural?

In response to the OP: Yes, it seems that you could say that due to the trends in pop culture that you mentioned - living in the moment, buy now pay later - could be the cause of this situation. But these trends have always been around. When British American colonies were just being first settled yo...

Re: Where are we?

For the US, I believe we have already stepped into the fire. Slowly, our politics have become more controlled by corporations preventing less input from actual citizens. None of the major political candidates have no reason to not help the corporations that are currently fucking us over. This contro...
