Re: Dune Game Over! Atreides/Fremen Victory!

Woo! :D

It may have been "only" one win, but I remain proud of it regardless ;)

I've been dead so long it's hard to remember any comments... not knowing any of the mafia I was forced to join was kind of a pain, but I can't say it didn't fit the flavor. >_> <_< MAGIC SPACE FEUDALISM

Have fun with the spoilers, guys! Congrats, all!

Seriously there's not the slightest chance that the flavor had anything to do with the voteblock I told you about immediately after it. Not even worth considering. Nope.

I claimed that bio got it right. I'd quote you the post, except why the hell would I quote you the post? Find it yourself, you lazy sods. ;D

Re: Dune D4: Walk Without Rhythm

A better target, perhaps, than the isolated confirmed flavor-writer of dubious alignment? Hmmmmm? ;D

Also is there seriously no one out there who can recruit me. I am usually awesome at living to endgame (though okay not generally with *this* amount of heat on me), I can relay any messages you want, and with reasonable doubt I can just continue to say I'm Corrino (or Harkonnen, if pressed) right 'till they nearly lynch me and no one will disbelieve it. Oodles of reasonable doubt here man. And no religion in space would reject my formal request for annullment because I mean damn. He died before nightfall and I never saw him, nor even learned his name! Even magic space feudalism makes allowances for that kind of crap.

Anyway, got one win, not sure whether my life or death is more advantageous to the second win just now, I can't really say I'm too bothered. ;)

Re: Dune D4: Walk Without Rhythm

Yes, all the italicized flavor has been from me. (Every bit of it. Don't you DARE try to steal credit from me. :P) My independent win condition was to predict three events that would happen the next day in flavor. Oddly worded, yeah, but these are the predictions:
DI:
-Mav is Lady Jessica
-Duke Leto is in the game
D2:
Feyd-Ruatha will be NKed or lynched
D3:
-ameretrifle is Irulan
-NaR is Paul Atreides
D4:
I won so I'm just writing for writing's sake. :D

I do not know whether or not my D1 assertions were true. My D2 one was obviously correct, and so was my D3 prediction because, well, I won. ;)

I'd point out that I voted for Dr Ug early but somehow I doubt that'll get me very far. :/

I am the only person in my faction I know. I'm trying to work toward my second win condition for the game's sake, but that makes it really hard. XD

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

Re: The workings of the machine:

Don't want to risk modquoting, but basically it was "you may order a player to do something they are capable of". I picked claiming, with a note that I would've added a "truthfully" requirement if I didn't think that would be nerfed. I can only assume that I was wrong. (Note option 3 on my list-- I wasn't at all sure he wouldn't be allowed to lie. Actually I was pretty much expecting "I am Dune. A sand dune. I fear the worms and the environmentalists. Survivor", or something much crazier given it was NaR.) However, given that he presumably did *not* lie, I am going to assume that lying was impossible, because would NaR of all players not think of that? NaR? As Paul Atreides?? Nah, he must not have been given the option.

Therefore, I am okay with a

Vote: Dr Ug

because I believe him.

...ninja'd... still confused. NaR, your input?

And I stand by my repeated (though apparently far too sarcastic) assertion that my being Irulan is OBVIOUS by now. XD I guess I should out-and-out state it, and I would've if I hadn't thought I'd already done so four or five times today. I am Irulan. string ameretrifle="Irulan". That makes at least seven. This role is kind of like the lovechild of Kiyomi Takada and Rita Skeeter. ... Contemplate that a moment, if you will.

ameretrifle wrote:And you know what? I'm not gonna bother lying about my role, since I claimed once today already and eventually surely ONE of you will figure it out.

Totally me saying I'm not Irulan. Yep. And no, I'm not claiming Bene Gesserit faction. Just sympathize. I claimed Corrino back there but I also claimed having won so really I can't say I'm too fussed.

(Corrino/Independent. "Independent" being "Correctly predict an event that will happen the following day in flavor on two occasions". The following day and the following day only. Confirmed by claim/death. And that's the one I won. So yeah, I'm feeling a bit smug. ;D The only Corrino I knew was Krong, and we could not talk. This has not changed.)

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

I genuinely thought that either he was bluffing or he'd be immune. I mean, some random giant machine in the desert, compelling the Kwisatz Haderach? Would YOU expect that? I expected to draw conclusions from the way in which nothing whatsoever happened, not actually force him to claim... again... Have I been bitter today about none of you reading? Because none of you seem to read sometimes (though I realize this may be a front) and I'm a bit bitter about that.

And you know what? I'm not gonna bother lying about my role, since I claimed once today already and eventually surely ONE of you will figure it out. I mean, someday. Hey, "Mentat", a subtle clue you missed--

Irulan wrote: For all the Bene Gesserit talk of being the "power behind the throne", we had not even as bitter a choice as that. I was truly a mere trifle, a pawn to be used in the building of empires, and with newfound "husband" dead, where was I then to turn?

BG fo' life, bitches.

I'm not actually Harkonnen (the magic space Pope had to admit I had multiple grounds for anullment), but Corrino's a bit screwed anyway, so sorry if I seem to switch personae with NaR. ;D

Oh, by the way, I successfully fulfilled my win condition of being psychic. Suck it, magic feudal space dudes. :P

Oh yeah, while I'm quoting the flavor-post no one read!

VectorZero wrote:Alone in her chambers, the Reverend Mother sat idly. Perusing the reports from her sisters on the ground, and toying loosely with the gom jabbar, she never heard the hunter-seeker enter the room.[/i]

Silknor is dead. He was the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, wielder of the gom jabbar, Bene Gesserit/Spice Addict.

Well, I don't know what Brook did, but I tried ordering you to claim. Reckless, I know. If you can think of anyone else worth giving it a shot on, I'm game to try-- otherwise, I'll assume it was blocked as being too powerful (or, again, some other reason) and settle for pettily trying to make certain players miserable. ;) Of course, I'm sure it'll arbitrarily break down soon enough, hopefully not killing anyone in the process. VZ's processed it, I assume, so I'm guessing that means it's some variant of option 1. (Did you fail to read that post of mine? Why is no one reading anything I say?) I wonder, were you true-claiming yesterday after all?

Possibilities:

1. Nothing will happen because NaR is immune.
2. NaR will tell us the truth.
3. NaR will put on one heck of a show because I doubt he would lie quietly.

I'd elaborate but if it's 1 I don't want him to be able to convincingly fake 2 or 3. ;)

I can use the machine now

I just do not have the faintest idea how O_O

Sorry, the power's just going to my head a bit. I... oh my.

I was totally wrong. It has nothing to do with sandworms.

Oh yeah and if House Fenring people are in the game, being reminded of who they are I'd say they are definitely "town".

Also do not like BN's abrupt claim, but I have been suspicious of him since D1, so. Barring a counterclaim I've no choice but to believe it... I wonder...

Oh god Brook's reading the manual. I don't know if this is a power I want him to have, if it works the way I think it does. XD Dr Ug is less likely to do anything crazy... i know I'm being cryptic, but it's early for me and like I said this is not at all anything I was expecting-- I have to think through this. And get some clarification on the mods on whether this is one-shot or a certain number of times total or if it really... oh, man. XD It's... probably not all *that* powerful, I mean, but... Ooh, and there are likely resistances, too. Man. Frantically strategizing now. XD

Yes, I have a power. Rereading, it is apparently optional, which surprises me. It does not really help anyone, but it has caused harm to no one, is not likely to cause harm to anyone, and is vital to my secondary win condition, which I don't really hold out much hope of fufilling but I have to try. NaR is probably full of crap. I have no silencing power, that's for sure, and I cannot think of any way my power could be construed as "being used right now" at the time he wrote that post. Of course he could have a really vague power he's misinterpreting like "you saw AMT doing something last night" but that "using a power right now" line is strange, inaccurate, and worries me. Re: Dune D1: Don't be shocked by the tone of my voice

I still prefer my vote. However, if need be, I am willing to switch to Lataro for these reasons:

1. My greatest priority right now is getting some information, and lynching seems to be the only way to get it.
2. He has professed a lack of interest. I have never been opposed to aiding the uninterested in their departure from a game. ;)
3. He seriously pissed me off in IRC the other day. Grudges bore me, but for one game I guess I can make an exception.

For the moment, I still prefer my vote where it is. Though I admit I'm not sure I have much of a general read on BN, which may be adding undue weight to my suspicions of his behavior. But can you think of a better way to find out whether he just pings me by default? ;)

Also, Brook's anti-Harkonnen posts just strike me as typical Brook zealousness, really. Theoretically he could be Harkonnen pulling a double-blind on us (and it's not a tactic I'd put past him, maybe even venting his disappointment at getting such a role), but he could just as easily be someone who canonically hates the Harkonnens. It's really just how Brook rolls. It's one of his most endearing traits. ;D

I was going to say that anyone specifically aiming for Lady Jessica would be scum, if we could just figure out who they were and that they were doing if for sure; but then I remembered that half the Atreides spend half the book convinced she's betrayed them. Fffff.

I hate making yet another "gah idk" post, but I don't know if we're really going to have a clue where we stand until someone dies, and it may get dodgy even then. D1, and you're not even totally sure what tells you're looking for. Woo.

Re: Dune D1: Don't be shocked by the tone of my voice

Thus far there simply hasn't been a lot of content to post. I've speculated just about as far as I've been able, but I think the role/setup-spec went about as far as it could several days back. Faction v faction makes sense; it's not impossible that we would have a 'town' of Atreides and Fremen; anyone who knows for sure isn't talking (and, in this game, probably shouldn't). We'll know more on D2, and it's good to have info to look back on then, but I'm pretty sure everyone's posted their opinion on the setup twice over by now...

Which is why I'm glad we're finally starting to move on. FC's post was pretty odd, but not quite voteworthy imo. brook's vote based on it does not ping me as unusual for him whatsoever. I had been looking at mpolo but his recent usefulness has made me disregard my largely baseless suspicions. I don't think Mav's been lurking, and BigNose's vote irks me-- at this point, he's my favorite D1 lynch candidate by a long shot. The general silence on those "Mav=Lady Jessica" rumors, and now these badly-justified votes, make me wonder if someone, on a slow D1, has decided to hope that it is true.

Nonsense! All those of House Harkonnen should feel perfectly free to claim so we can warmly accept them as the rightful overlords they are...

...don't think it's gonna fly?

Yeah, I'm a little at a loss with this. I can think of a couple things to follow up on, but they're really vague, even for D1. I was kind of assuming, from my role, that there'd be day-actions... looking back, it doesn't strictly follow, but on the off-chance anyone does have something that could stir up a bit of action, please don't hold out on us. :) Failing that, I guess it's time to start harassing people for minor things. :/
