Re: Dune Game Over! Atreides/Fremen Victory!

I foresaw this victory. That said...

VectorZero wrote:I confess to a small level of bastardry; I did select AMT as Irulan, since I suck at flavour and (rightly) figured she'd make a good go of it. I also gave Yueh to ThatMafiaGuy: figured it was the role where he could do the least damage.

Is that why I got Paul?

Re: Dune D4: Walk Without Rhythm

PhoenixEnigma wrote:I really don't know a whole lot of the flavour, but I've basically worked off the wiki and the assumption that it's Atreides vs Karkonnen and a mostly orthogonal Fremen vs Spice Addicts, with a decent sprinkling of independents and functionally-independents. That's been more than enough for me to make decent guesses at who I should expect to have win conditions in alignment with my own.

I've also been playing largely by instinct (I don't generally make notes for mafia games, I just make it up as I go). My gut is saying that lynching AMT probably isn't a bad idea, but it's not going to be all that great, either. I'm not going to cast a vote there, although I don't really have anyone better in mind at the moment.

I'm with this guy. Else, I'd have voted for AMT when it was first obvious she was Irulan. There are Harkonnen to ferret out!

EBWOP:

Vote: Dr Ug

Because Fenring being dead is good for win condition #2, and not being Fenring means that you're likely to be scum anyway.

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

I did not check to see whether or not I was allowed to lie. Either way, I wouldn't have lied. It might have damaged my credibility if I did. In any case, isn't coming out as the most powerful role something so boldly insane that you'd expect me to do it on principle?

And so the game turned toward shipping Irulan. HOW AWKWARD FOR WHOEVER'S GOT THAT ROLE .

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

Well, at the very least, it'll be equivalent to a modkill or having a kill power and using it on a lurker. But only if the person doesn't show up.

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

Okay. Now, I can use this thing... but I don't know who I would want to claim. So, I'm going to do something that'll make AMT very happy. I'm going to force a lurker to delurk.

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

Oh joy. 24 hours in which to roleclaim or die.

The name's Atreides. *puts shades on* Paul Atreides. You might know me by my other name... Maud'dib. Perhaps "Kwisatz Haderach" or "your savior".

Or, quite possibly, "the last person you want to truthfully roleclaim".

Look back at the day's opening flavor again. See anything odd about what Irulan wrote? Anything at all? You've just drawn attention to what was already available for all to see. And there I was, trying to breadcrumb for the fremen... Agh. Now you know, though.

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

I read the post but didn't know what to make of it, exactly. Does this mean you suspect(ed) me? As for what you think it might be other than a sandworm caller... that seems to be a rather bizarre power. A bizarre power that I don't think has any basis in the source material (as far as I know... it's been a while since I read the book.)

I do think I can trust you, though.

Re: Dune D3: To Tame a Land

:/ Meh. No manual for me. That means I don't get to find out. I was under the impression that it's a terraforming machine. However... I doubt that now, as terraforming in the book happened by biological processes. I think at this time that it is a spice refinery. That leaves me wondering what AMT wants with a spice refinery.

ameretrifle wrote:I

I just do not have the faintest idea how O_O

Sorry, the power's just going to my head a bit. I... oh my.

I was totally wrong. It has nothing to do with sandworms.

Oh yeah and if House Fenring people are in the game, being reminded of who they are I'd say they are definitely "town".

Also do not like BN's abrupt claim, but I have been suspicious of him since D1, so. Barring a counterclaim I've no choice but to believe it... I wonder...

Oh god Brook's reading the manual. I don't know if this is a power I want him to have, if it works the way I think it does. XD Dr Ug is less likely to do anything crazy... i know I'm being cryptic, but it's early for me and like I said this is not at all anything I was expecting-- I have to think through this. And get some clarification on the mods on whether this is one-shot or a certain number of times total or if it really... oh, man. XD It's... probably not all *that* powerful, I mean, but... Ooh, and there are likely resistances, too. Man. Frantically strategizing now. XD

(Oh, and no, it is not a killing machine. Not directly, anyway. XD)

Now I'm curious...

Read Manual

If it is what I think it is, I think things could go well.

It would be wonderful for me if we could avoid fucking with the worms. Who knows what that'd do to the game? (Probably AMT...)

BigNose wrote:I find that the problem of whether we are to trust Cycoden, and by inference - Lataro, is just going to become wine.

If we leave Cycoden alive, will Harkonnen kill him?
WIll some other faction do it?
Will they NOT kill him to create more wine?

It doesn't help that I don't even know if Harkonnen ARE scum.

What is good/strange, is the number of NK's. With such a number playing and the potential for 3 or 4 (or 5?) factions, that more NK's didn't occur.

What do you mean, we don't even know if Harkonnen are scum? What I can see is fairly obvious. The Harkonnens had the ability to chat with each other in private (see Lataro's apologizing about falseclaiming his secondary condition), they have a kill, and Lataro said he was ditching his primary win to betray one of his own. It seems obvious that town/scum would be primary objectives and that scum powers means scum designation. Even if it's all just wine, the best way to clear it up is to lynch Cycoden, because the probability of any of what I said just now being wrong seems low.

Re: Dune D2: I am Mauve'bib, the Kumkwat Haagendasz!

Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say that AMT has a silencing power or that she used one on me. I said I was silenced. Any information as to why is, quite frankly, sensitive. All you need to know is that you don't need to worry about who did it because nobody did. It was a weird mechanism. What I did say was that AMT is using or has used a power today... or last night. I could be misinterpreting my information, as AMT suggested.

Re: Dune D2: I am Mauve'bib, the Kumkwat Haagendasz!

Something happened and I wound up unable to speak for the rest of that day. :/ Must've been something in the water. Anyway, I think AMT's using a power right now. Or something. What's up, AMT?

Anyway, happy to see that it looks like the death tally at the end of day two will consist of two Harkonnen and Corrino.

Silknor... does that mean that you don't possess a townish-type role, or are you simply commenting on town size and characteristics?

If there's a cult, the only person in the original book who came close to being a cult leader was Paul Atreides. However, he didn't want it at first, and he used it to smack the Baron and Emperor around. Given that, either there's no cult, or we don't need to worry about its existence (strangely).
