Re: What-If 0087: "Enforced by Radar"

Footnote 1 says that, to get the energy needed, you multiply the speed times mc^2 where m is the vehicle mass, and the result is expressed in joules, a unit of energy. When I try, I get units of kg m^3 s^-3, while a joule is kg m^2 s^-2. The dimensional analysis just doesn't work here; if I switche...

At least that's how it was on Windows 98, I think.

Wasn't that just a shortcut (ie, not a symlink, just a think that makes Windows Explorer go to a different place) though?

Re: 0981: "Porn Folder"

I once mounted my filesystem within itself (as part of a thing for making incorrectly-programmed 32-bit programs use the 32-bit libraries instead of the 64-bit ones while still being able to access the rest of the system). I later realized I didn't need it anymore, so I deleted the folders ............

I completely misinterpreted the joke, turning into another joke completely. I didn't make the connection to 'alternative "medicine"', so I thought that the one guy got ripped off buying a bunch of books which turned out to be blank. So, to hide the fact that he got tricked into buying blan...

cat /usr/share/dict/words | grep "cat" | wc -l 2257 Strange. I only get 883. I guess it depends on how many languages you have though so on second thought that's not strange at all. Also, cat /usr/share/dict/words | grep "cat" | wc -l http://www.awkwardzombie.com/forum/images/sm...

When you really think about it, some character names really do sound pretty violent!

#!/bin/bash
HASH BANG SLASH bin SLASH BASH!!

Well, okay 'hash' doesn't quite work but it still sort of sounds violent.

I never noticed this until recently when I used a Windows computer after having used Linux for the past few months. Why would you use the standard escape character as a folder seperator? Wwwwhhhhhyyyy? I didn't even realize you could use backslashes instead of forwardslashes in URLs. ...oh wait, you...

Even better for Tetris: Gnometris (the tetris game that comes with Ubuntu) has an option that, when checked, makes the computer look at all possible blocks and chooses the one that will be least usefull. It's pretty much impossible to do anything since you have to set up your blocks such that ANY bl...

I notice

Code: Select all

When I read 'wine' I first thought of the Windows "emulator" rather than the drink. What does that say about me? Also, a slightly simpler explanation of how this works for those who don't understand it: Saying if P and !P then X is guaranteed to never be evaluated since if P is false then ...

I like monospaced fonts. It is easy to code with monospaced fonts. Coding with non-monospaced fonts is stupid. Coding using comic sans makes the world explode.
