Re: 1190: "Time"

++[Initial_TimeStream_Exit]++ Please leave this code as part of the current garble-nexus. I have been on board since the beginning of Time but have only caught bits and pieces of the consciousness bombardment. Outsider pressure has become unbearable, I will need to exit the garble-nexus for at least...

Re: 1190: "Time"

So: a thought about the "hourglass" theory. What if the "river" refers to the stream coming from the top chamber, and the "sea" is, in fact the level of sand in the bottom? This of course ignores the concept that an hourglass tends to create a rising cone-shaped pile o...

Re: 1190: "Time"

The water level has definitely risen. Perhaps there will be some dialog about it. (Now for something completely different) Time as an allegory for civilization - thoughts? Being denizens of Plank Space, they experience time at its slowest possible measure: Planck Time. A second for us seem an etern...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Well, it depends. You'd need to know the mass, the surface drag of the projectile, and how many foot pounds of torque the launching arm had at release. Only after the the ballistic projectile's kinetic energy it recieved from the trebuchet has been overcome by gravity (at the apogee of its trajecto...

Re: 1190: "Time"

1) If you wanted to calculate time, I think the best bet is based on the rising tide. But there's unknown variables there too. 2) I think she's digging a hole to bury her poop. Also, check that against the trebuchet projectiles. I think we will find some real conundrums if we try to compare the tim...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Or maybe this whole thing is a thought experiment and RM is hoping to crowd source the solution to some quantum mechanic/quark problem. It seems that the entire analysis of this comic is relative to the problems encountered with observing sub atomic particles.

Re: 1190: "Time"

Well, each side would obviously be a drop off. So maybe they are climbing or have some kind of flying creature off screen that we can't see? Or a trampoline on either side? Or they carved the first iteration out of solid stone and carved in a ladder?
