Infinity

Infinity has always bothered me, but also fascinated me. From holes in graphs in higher algebra, now to limits as x approaches infinity in calculus. My question comes with ln(x). Everyone agrees that there is no limit as ln(x) approaches infinity, that it reaches infinity. But I was thinking about i...

Re: Drinking, for the first time

It ended up being whiskey not rum, and I did not get shitfaced at all. I'm actually really, really glad with how drunk I got. Everything was fun, nervousness went away, but I remember everything, and didn't throw up, even if the whiskey made my stomach hurt from time to time. I chased it with Diet D...

Re: Drinking, for the first time

Thank you for all the advice! It's going to be a mixed drink of rum and coke I guess, the friend I'm drinking with is arranging the alcohol. I'm a 215 pound, 6'3" male, so it'll take a lot I'm guessing? Also, Nath seemed to be the only one to hit directly on the other twist to my post, of moral...

Drinking, for the first time

I know this topic technically doesn't belong in this forum, but it seemed too personal for general, and not deep enough for sb, so I thought I would try here. I have never been drunk, I've hardly even had sips of alcohol that I can remember. Now, in the near future, I have the...well, opportunity to...

Re: Israel

Honestly, the section of the debate involving the actaul destruction of the state of Israel is pointless. It is not possible, in any way. For one thing, many, most, if not all of the Israeli people would rather die than move, so genocide is the only option if they have to leave. Second, let us look ...

Re: Number Game!

Man, last time we only made it to the 70's I think. I have some free time in class, I'm working on 117 too :|
Are we only going to count sqrt(4) not something like sqrt(4+4)? and what about 4th root?

Re: Number Game!

It's up to the players! I'm not much of a governing body here. Do we want to allow it or no?
I must have some sleep though, I'll pick this up in the morning though, however far you guys get.

Re: Number Game!

Oh man! Someone has been busy. Yeah, square root is a little iffy, same in way with factorial, but it is hard anyways. I totally forgot 44 and 444 though :|
I'll try for 19. You edited it in, whoops.
44 / sqrt(4) + 4 = 26
Not sure of 25 though.

Re: Number Game!

I was gonna give someone else a chance! I guess we can run it up though, let them come in when it gets harder.
10 = 4 * 4 - 4 - sqrt (4)

Re: Number Game!

Oh man I was stuck on 4!
5 = 4/4 + sqrt(4) + sqrt(4)
Ninja Edit
(4 + 4) / 4 + 4 = 6

Number Game!

If this has already been posted, I apologize and request a prompt deletion. Otherwise, this is a fun game to play! The basic premise is to count, but the catch is to only use an exact amount of a certain number, say four 4's. All operators are legal, but stick to the simplest possible solution pleas...
