Meanwhile, it's been three days and nobody has proposed "The BDLPSWDKS Effect" as a name for an episode of The Big Bang Theory.

Re: 1190: "Time"

Archimandrite of Amicable Apostasy (in Absentia) here, to say:

I think this is just the end of Chapter One. I suspect that, at some point, we will see a comic entitled "Time 2," and off again we will go.

I can wait for it. I waited 16 years for Doctor Who to come back.

The rhyme I remember from when I was a kid goes "Girls go to college to get more knowledge. Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider." I guess I'm one of the 10,000 today, because I had absolutely no idea what this comic was referring to, and I have never heard this rhyme or any of its app...

Re: 1201: "Integration by parts"

Personally, I think that's a pretty tough formula for a high school student. It's not clear at all what' s going on. But let's reverse the order: ∫f(x)g'(x)dx = - ∫f'(x)g(x)dx + f(x)g(x) Suddenly it's very clear what we' re doing. It's nothing scary or hard to remember. We're just moving a derivati...

Re: 1190: "Time"

What I would like to know now is: Are all numbers equally cool, and if not, is there a least cool and most cool number in ℕ? I suppose you would have to define what the criteria for coolness is. imho (and I think a lot of us here agree) 1190 is the coolest number around. Can't argue with that. Beg ...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Heck, ALL numbers are cool! Which is, of course, easy to prove. Suppose not all (natural) numbers are cool. Then, there's a lowest number that isn't cool - a pretty cool property for a number, which contradicts our assumption. Therefore, all numbers are cool. QED. Sort of like the ontological argum...
