Re: 1190: "Time"
New title text has FOUR periods. .... This is getting serious. I once read a long interview with Gene Wilder, discussing the screenplay for Young Frankenstein. The interviewer noticed that the Creature's grunts are all transcribed as "nnnnnnn", and that every single instance in the entire...

@Aluisio: I think "a war of puns" is the best explanation for that. I don't know any more technical term. A pun cascade, we called that, in my youth in the West STAFF that is forgotten. Maybe something to do with the shapes made by the nested quotes. Or maybe not. But maybe appropr...

Re: 1190: "Time"
To me the arrival of LaPetit was the crowning moment of awesome for Time. But now I'm sad: all the Chekov's guns have been fired. All the mysteries have been revealed. Now it just plays out and wraps up. I really think the whole of Time stands well as an answer to the question "why do we need ...

Does anyone know what the deal is with the water being "too fresh to swim over"? I know that salt water makes you a little more buoyant than fresh water, but it'd take a pretty extreme amount of salt to make the difference between you being able to swim or not. And most wood floats in wat...

<snip> 6 Cueganites, I don't think LaPetite is one of them. But who know how many are behind them? (Hopefully, 30+.) Seems like kind of a pointless time to travel in single file to hide their numbers, but I guess old habits die hard. Living at the bottom of a dried seabed, it's hard not to be Sand ...

But all this raises a question. Megan talks of sand, and it does seem unlikely they'd be lounging casual-like on a salt beach. But the Mediterranean floor is evaporites, maybe several km thick. Where did the sand come from? Not a rhetorical question -- we can speculate. Could it have blown there, o...

I thought first to point to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, but didn't find anything about building with that salt. It is terrifically hard, though. It, too, is the remains of a Pleistocene lake. Hmm. Given that comparison, I suppose you could build sand castles out of it, based solely on the st...

Maybe this place is like Myst Island. Since we're now focused on language, isn't anybody but me bothered by the fact that the English language being used by Cuegan is apparently unchanged from currant useage?
