Re: 1190: "Time"

Greetings from sunny smoggy no-cal...We arrived in Oakland (which for those not in the know is just north of the famous San Francisco) under a smoggy cloud - what's up with that? Is there a thermal inversion right now? It's also got highs in the 60s and 70s while we're here, which is simultaneously...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Fried flatbread. Heh. The google search's 2nd entry is the sister restaurant of the place I go to (they are 2 blocks further away). The crepe place (sweet, savory, ice cream) is another block further away. If we end up having a romp raft in SF, come one down and we can descend on B-Star for platha ...

Re: Further Map Investigation

I tried looking at the map in 2906 to as well as 2907 to see if there was any dithering - there wasn't  However it did allow a closer invesigation of the areas covered with the dashed coastline, so here is version 3: http://forums.xkcd.com/download/file.php?mode=view&id=38729 Someone has a...

As the water flows, it widens the breach. The berm is giving way. The sea w(ill) rush through in a g(reat torren)t. The planet's mightiest river will once again come thundering down the mountainside. The sea will fill not in years but in days. But that's in days after the berm "gives way"...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Time for some VERY late night analysis! I wrote out all known roots and "vowels". Apparently we have 4 to 5 vowels - a convex arc [X ʾ ], a concave arc [X ʿ ], arc below [X ̯ ] and a dot above [X ̇ ]. Also, 22 roots so far. This COULD, barely, map to a regular alphabet, with its 5 vowels ...

Re: 1190: "Time"

I think there IS an island, or at least more land, which is the squiggle in the very lowest right. I don't see any sign of coastline, or island shape around the spot that has been pinpointed by the survey lines, though. It seems to be something small, that's fixed in the water.
