Lights at railroad crossings. And you can't make questionably legal maneuvers around those. Sure you can. As long as you're driving the Mach 5/K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider/a helicopter. But if you are driving the General Lee then you can drive right through it, just wait for the open boxcar! Its not ...

Tucson is a nightmare when it comes to traffic lights... Well, notsomuch traffic lights, but the way drivers interact with traffic lights. Here we have a horrible red-light-running problem, and I'm not sure which came first: The red light running, or the design of the red-green timing. So I'll start...

As for the vegetarian thing, my normal date starts like this: As i'm holding the door for her to my car, I ask "anything I should know about you? Anything crazy such as you dislike sushi, are a vegetarian, or have a problem with my really shitty car?" Just about every time it either makes ...

I followed about the first page or so... and I realize that its after thursday, but I figured I'd put in my own advice anyway. My SOP for a first date: Dinner first - something quirky. I usually have one thought, and a backup. I have a sushi place that I like to take girls, but there's the off chanc...

For all of you who are bitter about being single on valentine's day: Believe me, it sucks more to be taken on Valentine's day. This is the first time in 7 years I'm going to get by without buying someone something, or going out of my way to make someone feel more special than I normally would. Its g...

Rachel... how many pictures do you have!?

Holy shit. I had to search and search for pictures of myself, then learn how to take a picture with my camera using a timer.

All I gotta say is 0_0.

The city itself isn't THAT boring if you're over 21 and have a decent social circle. Just hit the Cactus Moon on Wednesday, Maloney's on Thursday, Shanty on Fridays, Plush on Saturdays, repeat.

No, I thought it changed your chances from 1/3 to 1/2... I remember the problem from class, but that was a couple of years ago so I could be wrong.

I do remember that you use the strategy "always switch doors" because it raises your probability. But I thought it raised it to 1/2...

Wow. I've been wanting the solution to that for ages. I can remember way back in Junior High algebra when the question was first presented, but no answer was given, and then again in passing in high school, then finally probably a couple of times in college, but I've always gotten distracted somehow...

She knows the rules beforehand, and to my knowledge can only be woken on a Monday or Tuesday. There are two end conditions on a Tuesday, and one end condition on a monday. Assuming that sleeping beauty does not know what day it is, and has to guess how often she'll be woken up, she'll guess 2/3 on T...

Spoiler, this is what I came up with before I read your answers:: Proof by contradiction: assume that the prisoner is executed on the first day. On any subsequent day, the tribal chief must have the option to execute the prisoner on the next morning. As the chief does not have the option in executin...
