It does take practice and it's not something I do in normal situations. The trick with urine flow is to use your muscles to actually like "push" it out which you can do even without a full bladder or stopping early. I don't know how to describe it better than that, sorry! I practice in th...

Re: So what do you do when you have a hangover?

Wake up early, you will be groggy and feel like shit. Drink a HUGE glass of water. Piss. Put a glass of water next to your bed. Sleep 2 more hours. Wake up. Drink water. Doing that, I've never had a hangover worse than being a little groggy. My guess is your body absorbs water better when you are sl...

Anyhoo, The beach was fun. I suggest (for Seattle) gasworks park with some sort of selection of outdoor games, such as tag, duck duck goose, and perhaps a boombox.

Ssh is slow locally, but not unusable. Only a half a second or so leg between keypresses and characters showing up. No other local machine with outside access to test with right now though.

Very slow ssh (after login) with slackware 13

I've got a delay of between 2 and 15 seconds between pressing a key and seeing it on my terminal through ssh. This is really annoying as I use the computer to centralize my communication (irc, im, etc) when I'm away from home, which I usually am, and I can't get at the hardware for a few days. I'm o...

Re: Buying a digital camera (questions)

(Haven't seen this here yet) Seems most cameras are sold by the megapixel rating, though the CCD size is a much better indicator of picture quality. Larger CCDs are affected less by dust on the lens, and require less exposure time to capture the same amount of light, so bigger CCD = less distortion,...

Re: Distortion. Not enough amp, or not enough subwoofer?

Today I had an old electrician/audiophile/70s-rock-fan friend take a look at my setup. We went over ohm's law with my specs a few times in various amp configurations and figured the problem was likely signal wires or my speakers, not the shitty amp. We then played with the wiring to and from my amps...

Re: Distortion. Not enough amp, or not enough subwoofer?

One thing I'm wondering is where the bass amp is getting its signal: I assume you are using line out and not speaker out on the source. You may have a situation where the source is acting like a variable pre-amp adjusted by the volume control. Variable preamp: That's exactly what a car stereo head ...

Re: Distortion. Not enough amp, or not enough subwoofer?

The gain on the sub amp has to be adjusted every time I change the volume at 2 ohms. When I turn the head unit volume up, the sub gets too loud too fast, and I have to turn the gain on the sub down to balance it. If the volume of the head unit is the linear equation (audible noise and control volume...

Re: Distortion. Not enough amp, or not enough subwoofer?

Well the midrange speakers rise in volume at a certain rate as you turn the volume knob. That rate did not change whether I had both pairs connected to the head unit, only one and the other to an amp, or both pairs to an amp. The sub's volume rose much faster than the rest of the system in 2 ohm, an...

I liked pioneer's older interfaces, 1997-2001 or so. Nice and simple, but still powerful. Re: Distortion. Not enough amp, or not enough subwoofer?

Originally I was using both subs because I have them, and leaving one sitting in the back room didn't seem right. Now after a LOT of reading, I'm using them as one sub. The idea behind the isobaric configuration is I am using both voice coils to push only one sub's worth of air volume. It's an inter...
