Re: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

I really enjoyed this one! :D

Does the show take many liberties in adapting the books? Is the black wing subplot wholly original?

Re: Spiderman: Homecoming

I think they're setting him up to rebel against Tony. Has Keaton been confirmed to be playing Vulture? Last I heard they were being coy about it. I had a feeling that casting him as Vulture after Birdman would be a little too on the nose. So, I've suspected for a while that he would really be playin...

I think the key word is "experimental".

The War Machine armour isn't experimental, and regardless of the circumstances you'd be hard pressed to call what happened to Rhodey an "accident".

Re: Mister Doctor [Strange]

So, I just saw some comments on a Dr Strange article talking about when it's supposed to be taking place? I thought the reference you get thrown close to the beginning was in reference to: Warmachine's injury in Civil War but some people are saying that it was something from Iron Man 2? and tha...

Re: Mister Doctor [Strange]

I liked it! :) It's a Hero's Journey, so don't expect any grand surprises in terms of plot. It's very focused on Strange's arc, too. So the supporting characters are a little underserved, but hopefully a sequal will address that. The reason is probably that this film also has to do a lot of mystic w...

Re: Star Wars: Episode 7: Electric Boogaleven

I liked it. It was every bit as good as I had hoped so lowering my expectations definitely worked. Remained consistently funny and engaging throughout and that's about all it needed to do. The most impressive work was done by their marketing department. Even some people I know who never go to the c...

Re: Star Wars: Episode 7: Electric Boogaleven

I think the comparisons to New Hope are accurate, but the characters and humour set this one apart. Easily a candidate for best in franchise.

Also! Lots of practical Henson company puppets and what not. I've seen the practical BB-8 rolling around, any idea how that works? :D

Mystery solved then!

Happy to see Eddie protest keeping Iris in the dark. The character may actually get some use this season.

Re: So there is this guy who can run the fastest (The Flash)

Holy hardcore hill-midgets! :O Wells IS Eobard Thawne! The reason he's helping Barry is to steal his speed and shiz, or something, and return to his time. Wells kills Cisco! Even in spite of what will probably be a timeline reset, that scene was amazing. Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh nailed it.

Re: So there is this guy who can run the fastest (The Flash)

Re: So there is this guy who can run the fastest (The Flash)

...huh. So that happened. Harrison Wells is the Reverse Flash! Oh man, when he pulled out the ring at the end it was like, what colour will the suit be! D: Not only that, but the episode implied he is, in fact, Eobard Thawne, i.e. when he didn't kill Eddie. Spoilers based on the comics: Interest...

Re: So there is this guy who can run the fastest (The Flash)

I very much enjoyed the crossover. The fight in the Flash episode was excellent. They're 2 for 2 on translating the Flash's rouges to screen, in my opinion. Also, what's up with ASIS in this universe? It's like a super villain factory. Casting spoilers: Speaking of which, guess who i...

Re: So there is this guy who can run the fastest (The Flash)

Well, I think that line is just normal "chosen one" fluff, and also a reference to how Barry Allen dies in the comics. Also, I'm not entirely sure if the current explanation of Barry's powers will stand the test of time. The show is pretty reference overdosed, so I'd be surprised if they d...

I didn't grasp the link between Skye and the immortal woman at all. :/

Then again, I couldn't tell if the woman that Skye's father cradles in the flashback was her.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I am vexed. Did Wells just implicate himself? Or did we get our first in-universe indication that he is a red-herring? Damn you Tom Cavanagh! Whoever he is, he has to know that the investigation is ongoing and that's only 3 people. Well, unless it's his dad...

Why are they doing that dumb thing where they kill all the villains. Clancy Brown as General Eiling! ...and Amanda Waller in Arrow... Are we seeing the beginnings of a Cadmus storyline? Are we gonna go full-on Grodd before the season is over? Man, it would be truly excellent if Powers Boothe repris...

Indeed. I think all the relationships in this episode felt a bit more natural. I sincerely hope that Barry's arc throughout the season is getting over Iris, because it's hella creepy. You know, gaining some distance, ceasing to be her brother. It's the only way any future relationship wi...

So, if I'm reading right, mini-me will have relatively high strength for something of it's size?

Why not attempt to separate the blade assembly from the motor's... bit that spins? Rotor, I guess?

You know, they come apart for cleaning and such.

The economy and defence are important issues, but I think they've featured disproportionately in the media and in this thread. Independence cuts across so many different areas of discussion (including past UK policy), without even getting into the meta issues on the nature of UK politics itself. Com...

Surely the point of the episode was that all the normal, 'plausible' explanations for the stuff they experience really was correct. It was just transformed, in their minds, into some alien threat by fear. So, the thing under the covers really was another kid, the doctor got hit by debris, C...

That's a pretty good point. I wish I could think of other examples, but right now I keep hanging on "It's nuclear! It's analog! " and "They have two brains, like a dinosaur!" The analog one I can kind of buy, as code for "it's old, and less vulnerable to EMP". Yes, I k...
