Re: 1683: "Digital Data"
Hopefully historians of the future won't confuse copying files with re-encoding images.

Re: 1190: "Time"
I looked at the Response when one does a HEAD Request for http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/time.png. It gives a 301 Moved Permanently response. If Randal intended to change it, he would have used a 302 Found Response. I also look forward to see where this is going. I got the same URL that rainspeaker got...

Inconvenient and Unnecessary
This browser/javascript application is awfully inconvenient. Requires a lot of clicking and dragging, and doesn't seem to recognize any sort of keyboard shortcuts. Why can't we just download a large png image? Then we can browse it in whatever application we want. I just want to load a png in my bro...

Re: 0938: "T-Cells"
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly. I don't know why she swallowed that fly. Perhaps she'll die.

Re: "Prudence" Discussion
This wouldn't work. When you jump into the closet, time stops in this world until you return. I don't think it was ever specified what would happen if you died in Narnia, but I just assumed that time would resume again without you. Anyway, the laptop wouldn't be able to keep up with the M.A.L.P.'s s...

Here you go: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/about
I didn't want to get into a big math discussion, that's why I said about 33% instead of 25%. Too many people would be wondering where the 25% came from.

Re: "Free" Discussion
Marketers, now shame free! I hate it when they advertise basic math. 12-pack! 50% more than an 8-pack! 33% more cereal than a box of cereal that has about 33% less cereal! My strawberry Nestle Quik has on the tub "25% less sugar than other powder and syrup brands." It's 93% sugar. They get...

Re: "Brontosaurus" Discussion
Brontosaurus ... recognized as a mistaken combination long ago Citation needed. In fact, I would go so far as to say you got the facts wrong. From Wikipedia: In 1903, Elmer Riggs pointed out that Brontosaurus excelsus was in fact so similar to Apatosaurus ajax that it belonged in the same genus, an...

Re: "Urgent Mission" Discussion
Why not do both?, time isn't going anywhere. or is it? To your mother's house. It's not that it's going anywhere, it's that there is only so much of it. If time weren't going anywhere, then a moment would be enough for everybody. Problem is, time is rapidly disappearing, and so we each will eventua...

Re: "1000 Times" discussion
I completely disagree. There is no reason for the news to give a basic math lesson every time they use numbers. That would just be silly and a waste of time. Too often the news and TV in general cue for the lowest common denominator, and it is a waste of time for the rest of us. Anybody with half a ...
