Re: science tips for losing weight and geting uber fit

I could be wrong but I am fairly certain fat loss is evenly distributed so it might prove difficult for you to spot-target your stomach area might prove difficult.

Your exercise routine sounds intense though so I am sure you will achieve great results!

Re: For once, I want to be fit.

Is a "stitch" the same thing as a "cramp"? I have never heard stitch used in that context before, only when speaking about sewing ^_^

Re: Shakespeare Comparison

Just because some of your arguments is similar to what a famous series of reviews says, does that mean you cheated? No. Er, actually, if your argument is similar because you read that review (and failed to cite it), that's the definition of plagiarism . What do you think the OP is asking us to do f...

If you find a screename that you particularly like but it is already taken, add it to your buddy list then curse about how the mystery person who stole your great idea for a screename does not even use it!

Erm, I've done this.

Re: Staying awake (split from Rules)

I have a similar question so I figure I wouldn't create another thread: You have 2-3 hours left before having to get up and show up for (exam, appointment, project due). How do you make sure you don't oversleep? If you're dead tired, somnambulism is the killer here (at least enough to close your fo...

So, true or false: the only purpose for which factorials are useful is permutation computations Depends. Do Taylor series count as "permutation computations"? From what I understand about Taylor Series (very little) no, they do not count. Unless I am overlooking evidence for why they shou...

See but that somewhat defeats the purpose IMO because most of the fun is rediscovering old treasures a year or a few years later :)

Re: How do you stay fit?

I used to ballroom dance but I've dropped due to lack of time. Perhaps in the future I will be able to pick it up again! Now it is pretty much your average jogging and going to the gym. Recently my friend took me to a hot yoga class that she does. I found it wonderfully rewarding even though I have ...

Re: REALLY Annoying Misconceptions

Not sure if something like this has been mentioned in previous pages but this one bothers my boyfriend and I to no end: At school there is a major called Corporate Finance and Accounting. People often simplify this into the acronym CFA. CFA stands for Certified Financial Analyst- a position which re...

Re: Factorial

There is one permutation of the empty set; it's the identity. This is really all the explanation you need. There is 1 way to arrange 0 objects, just as there is 1 way to arrange 1 object and n! ways to arrange n objects. If you can think of what it even means to be arranging -7 objects then urm... ...

Clinging on to the junk

I am cleaning out my room and it occurs to me that I have a hard time throwing out even the smallest objects that have some kind of either sentimental or aesthetic value. For example I an obsessed with frogs the color green, and I came across some kind a postcard-esque ad for something. This ad was ...

Staying awake (split from Rules)

So question: How do you guys deal with staying awake late at night to work on tasks and/or assignments? On the one hand, class rank is an indicator of several things such as intelligence, diligence, work ethic. But at the same time to what extent does class rank matter? What is the difference between #1 and #2? There is something to be said about the bragging rights of saying "I was first in my c...

Re: Procrastination - Is there a cure?

1) Find sufficient motivation to inspire you to do what you need to do. Works best with big-picture things, like going to class so that you can actually learn the material and thus won't have to lie on your resume when you try to get that job you'll need to pay off your college loans. Survival is i...
