Re: 1322: Winter

There's a reason the English language has the largest vocabulary of any language in the world.  That's because we have a word, a *PROPER* word, for just every thing, action, feeling, or concept. 1. German 2. What is the word in English for the little splash made by a drop of rain when it lands in a...

Re: 0899: "Number Line"

Just going to put this out there: I learned how to solve the .999(bar) = 1 question sometime back in the 8th grade with a little algebra (that has already been posted here twice). The numeral "3" was never invoked, and it made perfect sense. I feel there comes a point where people insist o...

Re: 0881: "Probability"

In fact I am not arguing against "caring". However I find it most disturbing that the sympathy posts outnumber rational thoughts on the comic, and I find it even more disturbing that I'm stigmatised as a bad guy, or even not a human at all. As you can see, when sympathy interferes with th...

Re: "Tech Support Cheat Sheet" Discussion

Funny, but Randall has made earlier comics that don't seem to hold you by the hand through the joke. The comedy would have been sharper had all the text "outside" the flowchart been omitted, and yet we all still would have got it.

Re: "Collections" Discussion

Oh, and, a thought springs to mind. Assuming, as Pratchett argues, magical books communicate with one another when held in close physical proximity (see: the library at the Unseen University), and in fact swap data across one another, AND assuming that Pratchett's books are in fact magical (I challe...

Re: "Collections" Discussion

Finally, a reference to Terry Pratchett! For those of you just starting, what awaits is nothing short of a novelized narcotic you never want to quit. Embrace and enjoy.

By the way, the Turtle Moves.

Re: "Brakes" Discussion

http://nothere.rit.edu/images/pub/randallcar.png Alright, signed up just for this thread. Keep in mind that I'm not a physicist, merely an accountant. But I'm curious about the "height of the cliff" issue. Since we don't have any reference points beyond the proportions of the car (anythin...
