Cheap spectrophotometer to estimate the iso alpha of hops?

I'm planning to grow some hops this year and was just going to use them for aroma and dry hopping my home brew but I got interested in being a bit more accurate with the iso-alpha levels and came across some DIY methods to make a spectrophotometer for cheap, either with a webcam or even a phone and ...

The best place to be during climate change?

I was talking to a friend about the recent 400 ppm CO2 equivalent and we got to talking about where would be the best place to be to ride out global temp rises, flooding and other effects of climate change. Being the coward he was, he suggested moving to Canada and becoming a farmer  I said th...

Re: Worst thing you've seen in a lab

In high school my class was doing a lab with bunsen burners and the hoses weren't secured right so a bit of gas leaked and the windows were open with a breeze coming in so the smell went out of the room and towards the hallways. An entire wing of the school was evacuated when some teachers smelled t...

I love bow ties in a way that is just short of sexual due to the fact I don't want to stain a bow tie  They tend to be much more practical than a tie that just flops all over the place and they might be limited in print, but there are more styles of bow tie than skinny and normal. I've found out that optimal root beer float carbonation to ice cream could be made by pre-mixing the ice cream with a third of the root beer till there aren't any lumps and then pouring in the rest of the root beer. 'Course you could just mix in some whiskey with it and call it a day

How do you wipe the hard drive and do you have to order the CD or can you download it on to a CD and then just boot the computer to it? Also I have about a billion cds from when they used to be important for storing files so a lack of CD's won't be a problem.
