So is this comic part of a nefarious plan to get people to read the forums?

Re: 0851: "Na"

I'm amazed by how many people who are accusing the comic of being wrong when they are wrong themselves. Katamari is naaaaa na na na na na na na na katamri damacy 9xna na naaaaa na na na na na na na na katamari damacy 10xna At the start of the chorus it's 9 and in the second line it's 10. As for hey ...

Re: "1996" Discussion

I guess they cost so much because of the software.

In any case, it's good to know my TI-89 from the year 2000 is still state of the art.

Re: "Devotion to Duty" discussion

Can any sysadmin's out there recommend a tool that can automatically monitor whether or not my server is up/responsive and send a text message to my cell phone if it goes down Nagios. Re: "Devotion to Duty" discussion

Can any sysadmin's out there recommend a tool that can automatically monitor whether or not my server is up/responsive and send a text message to my cell phone if it goes down for more than 5 or 10 minutes (perhaps holding the message until 6 am in case it goes down in the middle of the night).

Re: "Designated Drivers" Discussion

I don't know how many times I've been in a car where the drunkest person is driving because they care the least about the consequences of being caught and getting a DWI. We'd be so much better off if we encouraged the responsible drunks to do the driving by relaxing the BAC a bit and focusing on cat...

Re: Popular linux shell

Also what about Bash? This seems to be the simplest option but does anyone have experience of diving straight into command-line-interface OS's after being used to a GUI? Windows has its place. Although if you like you can almost completely replace it with a Linux OS running some kind of desktop (I'...

Re: What would you do with an infinitely fast computer?

I would write a simple genetic algorithm that relies on an excessive amount of time to increase it's complexity until it is self-aware. Then I'd converse with it. For safety, I would ensure the computer isn't connected to any network.
