While I do not own any of these laptops, I have read some very good things about the MSI laptop. It seems like a great combination of a compact design and the power of a desktop replacement. If I were to choose I'd go with the MSI. Take that for what it's worth.

I would definitely suggest Graham Coxon. He is probably best known as the guitarist for the UK band Blur, but his solo work is certainly worth checking out. In particular I'd suggest his newest album "The Spinning Top".
