I just discovered this video of Glenn Beck having a temper tantrum and I think that it about sums up why I question his sanity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n3QeHtSOfM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fencyclopediadramatica%2Ecom%2FGlenn%5FBeck&feature=player_embedded#t=197 Still, at least he's not Rush...

Re: "Suspicion" Discussion

Oh, that's classic xkcd. Only Randal Monroe... well, and Rob. I can't help but think that it must've been some kind of sophisticated 'bot. To think, it was defeated by the word "kittens". He probably could've continued their relationship, if it weren't for his sadly antiquated views of hum...

Re: Harry Potter 6 (MAJOR MOVIE SPOILERS)

It lives! :D I mean, really, Dumbledore? Even if the whole thing hadn't been rushed, I think I pretty much would have decided at that point that I wasn't watching that one again. Before the HBP movie came out some friends and I got together and watched the first five movies in one go. It was the fir...

I also really dislike talking on the telephone, and there are some colours that I just really don't like-- most metallic ones, mint green, and burgundy/maroon. Ick. Looking at the dragons in your sig, this is utterly hilarious. Why? None of them are those colours-- we have red, yellow/regular green...

Re: How I surprise people

I surprise people when they find out my age. I look like I might be around 12-15, but I'm 19. A colleague at work (He actually has ~20 years old daughters) thought I was 20. When I told him I wasn't, he guessed I was older. I am 17. Dun dun dunnnn People also tend to guess that I'm older than I am,...

Re: Harry Potter 6 (MAJOR MOVIE SPOILERS)

I really liked the movie, which stayed pretty close to the original, except for a couple of scenes which have been already mentioned. I'm also nthing the irritation at the whole attacking-the-Burrow scene (it was pretty much a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment and you'd think that with Voldemort back and ...

Astronauts, they have laser guns. Didn't they agree that the astronauts don't have weapons? I'm a huge Angel fan, although I've never actually watched Buffy . Seconding Spike with a soul-- without it he sort of flip-flops between "Angelus" to "Cool but scary" but I don't rea...

Re: Glenn Beck

Beck actually wrote a novel, called The Christmas Sweater , about a boy who gets a sweater hand-knitted by his mom for Christmas when he wanted a bike, and started brooding about it, then his mom dies in a car crash before they have a chance to make up, so he moves in with his grandparents, who he a...

My bicycle is called Rocket because of how fast it goes (particularly downhill...) and I named my sister's RC car Fido because of how she learned the controls by following me around with it. :P

Ok, you people who think alcohol has different effects because of "impurities": You are sad people, sorry. Or maybe I'm just sad that you are wrong. Alcohol makes your brain work slower. Everything else is created by user expectation. The grad students are right, not because they are grad...

Re: Jack Chick - one wonderful, insane fundamentalist cartoon

Oh man, Jack Chick... this guy has to be seen to be believed. I usually enjoy reading his tracts for the sheer absurdity of his arguments, although a few of them are just grossly offensive. It must be really interesting being him, actually believing this stuff... he makes Stephen Colbert look reason...

Re: What are you readioactive now(and other book related stuff)?

Right now I'm reading the Time Quartet by Madeleine L'Engle, just starting the second one, A Wind in the Door . I'd definitely recommend these books, although I'd guess that most of you are already familiar with these books, or at least the first one, A Wrinkle in Time . If not, read them; it's real...

Re: National Pride

I think it's perfectly natural to feel patriotic pride and pride in your heritage/race, both of which I feel, just so long as you don't take it too far and start blindly attacking or belittling other people and their nationality/heritage/race if they disagree with you or to make yourself look better...

I'm nth-ing Runaways and Maus-- both great reads. I also recommend Bone, a great fantasy series about three creatures called "bones" who get lost, and end up in a far-off valley and in the middle of a long-coming war.

Re: "Understocked" Discussion

I found the comic simple but funny and still retains the xkcd feel even if it does't have maths in it. Agreed. This comic made me laugh (although knowing what he was referring to sure helped). I do wonder, though, why the President of the United States of all people would be unable to provide beer-...

Hey. I'm Song, and I live in Ontario, Canada. As you can see, I enjoy reading, writing, and I play the trombone and guitar. I'm also a Pastafarian, a math competition veteran, a cat lover, and a long-time lurker of the fora. I also am absolutely not a raptor.
