Re: Dune Game Over! Atreides/Fremen Victory!

My original plan was to just go through the game and hope that Paul got lynched or claimed (which I didn't think was likely), and to save my kill for end game, where I'd either target whoever I thought looked scummiest, or if Paul was still alive to just randomly fire it.

Re: Dune Game Over! Atreides/Fremen Victory!

This was really fun.
Would have been even more if I hadn't been an idiot and forgot about doctors...
I really have no idea why I decided to try and kill NAR after a rather long wait.

What was the lynch number for the last night?
Unless I miscounted, we had 10 people, so wouldn't it have taken 6 to lynch, not five?
(Am I missing something?)

EBWOP: Also, it bears thinking about, that Adacore just claimed to have gained one of the Baron's win conditions. What possible reason could there be for him to lie and say that he got the spice addict win condition? Oh wait, hes being possessed by the Baron. That might be a reason.

Its not good to have lynchers around... Even more so if you don't know who they are trying to lynch.
I probably should have been lynched back when NaR was still alive, except that scum kept essentially throwing themselves at us.

Re: Dune D5: Check Out My New Weapon

Unvote
Dark Lionk's description seems close enough to mine that I believe his freeman claim.
He could still be Freeman/Something Else, in the way that I am, but I originally voted him because of the lurking, which has gotten a little better anyway.

mister k wrote:it looks like our votes aren't being counted, anyway, so we're actually going to have to look for a lynch. Man, that involves effort. I'm assuming we think FC is low threat enough to be left alone- he's not going to persuade us to lynch NAR after all, and his kill seems to have been a bit of a flop.

I still don't know why I didn't think that someone would have doctored him...

I think I agree with Bignose on this, might as well go for AMT, and if she comes out town, then go after E_E for the false cop.

Someone more likely to kill NaR than me? Try anyone who has a kill.

Great.
This isn't how I was hoping this would happen, but I can't risk anyone else beating me to it.
Kill: NaR

I'm Jamis, Fremen/Lyncher.
I suspect I'm going to be the next target for a lynch for this, but hey, its one win down, and you can always test the machine on me to see if I'm telling the truth.

ALSO: I feel super smart for not picking up on NaRs hints at all.

Read the title of the manual.
Might get us some actual information.

Anyway, for discussion, does anyone have any idea why Cycoden suggested we lynch BigNose, besides to mess with us as he died?

Re: Dune D2: I am Mauve'bib, the Kumkwat Haagendasz!

So the flavor for the lynch mob was that it was the Fremen who killed Lataro. I think this was probably just because the Fremen where the most likely to kill Rabban, but my original thought was that it meant the Fremen where the 'town' group, as its usually the 'town' who carry out the lynchings.

Do you guys think it was just flavor, or actually meant anything?

Wow, spend a day hooking up your internet, and this happens.
Hmm... For those who don't recall, could someone go over the whole Rabban/Feyd-Rautha thing? Was one of them the Baron's potential emperor to be guy?

Re: Dune D1: Don't be shocked by the tone of my voice

I think I remember people saying that the Emperor would be on the side of the Harkonnen, and while this is true towards the beginning of the book, around three quarters of the way, the Emperor suspects that the Baron is trying to build his own army of [Emperor troop name here] level soldiers, and seems to be thinking about removing the Harkonnen as well.

I bow to your superior knowledge of the history of Fremen/Harkonnen relationships. With this new information, the likely hood of them having win conditions that are not mutually exclusive does seem quite unlikely.

Re: Dune D1: Don't be shocked by the tone of my voice

That'd would be the most amazing false claim I'd ever seen.
As far as I can remember though, the Harkonnen only really intentionally attacked the Fremen AFTER they took control again, and some shit started going down. (I feel like the Fremen started it, but I don't recall). Since this is set to take place at the halfway point (I'm think right after the Atrendis get smashed badly) it would be feasible that they could not be fighting with each other, if the fighting never started.

My idea wasn't that they would be allies, but that they wouldn't have to kill each other to have their own victories. Which is a difference.

Re: Dune D1: Don't be shocked by the tone of my voice

I don't really think that the Fremen and Atrendis are likely to be allied per-say. A few people may have overlapping goals, or they maybe be able to win together, but the same might be said of other groups.

I wouldn't be surprised if instead of goals like 'Be the only faction left" some groups had goals like "Overthrow the Harkonan" "overthrow the Atrendis" "overthrow the emporer." "Be the controllers of Arrakis" etc, and that some groups could be set up so that they could win with another, such as the Atrendis and the Fremen, or the Emperor and the Harkonan, or the Harkonan and the Fremen if they could agree not to attack each other, or the Fremen and the Emperor. Etc.

Re: Dune D1: Don't be shocked by the tone of my voice

I suspect the roles would be something like
You are Chani, flavor goes here.
You win with the fremen
You want to become/are Paul's lover.

You are Paul, flavor goes here.
You want to become emperor (by say, killing the emperor or winning or something)
You win with House Atreides

Or something like that, for each character.
