Re: What-If 0113: "Visit Every State"

Re: What-If 0127: "Tug of War"

This leads me to contemplate someone cutting the rope in two with a chainsaw during a very large tug-of-war match (think hundreds of people). Seems like a very classholey thing to do.

Re: What-If 0102: "Keyboard Power"

I did some experimentation to see the maximum typing speed I could come up with. The first thing I did was to do away with the notion of having to write coherent words. That just slows things down and all key presses are equal (except for the big keys of course). So I put eight fingers on the keyboa...

My blog

Hi! I've known about this forum for a while, but I'm not really active here. Hopefully someday, I'll become active. Anyway, I started a blog for odd science questions a week or so ago that you might enjoy if you like whatif.xkcd.com. The URL is http://oddsciencequestions.blogspot.com/. You can send ...

Re: The "What-If?" Book

I also noticed that the book said that ammonia was an element. Funny. Still, I really liked the book, though I was a bit disappointed that some of the sections were just repeats of what-if blog entries.

Re: 1401: "New"

This is unrealistic. A cannon that small couldn't blow up a whole desk. And if it did, it would probably kill Cueball too.

Re: What-If 107: "Letter to Mom"

Hi, this is my first post. It occurs to me that there's a good reason why the specified route avoided the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail. Unless I'm very much mistaken, the walking route option of Google Maps calculates the shortest possible route. The purpose of a highway is to let people drive quickly ...
