Re: Teachers being trained to kill kids

Kids are about one hundred times more likely to be killed by traffic accidents than by shootings, but nobody is making a ruckus about the need to save child pedestrians from dangerous motorists. No, the difference is nobody is making a ruckus to prevent doing things to make child pedestrians safer....

Re: Trump presidency

Quick question, do you think he's lying (or exaggerating his abstinence)about his drinking? I don't think he's answered untruthfully, but I do think that he's certainly exaggerating. My read is that his drinking during high school and college really probably isn't something that should trip him up ...

Re: Sexual Harrassment Epidemic

The same SD-UT reporter has been writing about the sexist nicknames that Judge Kreep (yes, his real name) had been giving attorneys in his court . Judge Kreep is on the ballot this June. How else would you align the map with the landscape? :) We were always instructe...

Re: Can you reach the bottom of a pringles tube with your ha

I can just barely touch the bottom of a pringles can, but I can't actually manipulate the chips that are at the bottom. When I try, I just end up mashing them into chip bits and then tipping the can straight into my mouth.

Re: Why is yawning contagious?

Anecdotally, it's not restricted by species either. I find myself yawning after my dog yawns, and by pretending to yawn while she's watching I can almost always make her yawn as well. …and I just discovered that I can make myself yawn, by pretending to yawn while mentally picturing a cocker spaniel...

Re: Could you move Earth out of the solar system...

Another way to cheat would be to throw material off Earth in such a way that it bounces off the Moon and comes back to Earth. Although this won't displace the centre of mass of the Earth-Moon system from its solar orbit it will gradually increase the Earth-Moon distance if you get the timing right....
