Re: 1873: "Email Reply"

Generously, it's possible that my non-African surname might be being interpreted by the invite-'bots as trans-Mediterranean 1 and more likely to ferment a sense of half-forgotten familiarity with the sender than "Charlie Smith", "Ragnar Olafson"or "Kim Jong-Claude Sitting-B...

Hmm... Take a dataset where half the values are outliers. Filter the data to remove the inliers. What does your dataset now consist of?

Re: 1701: "Speed and Danger"

Maybe the humour is supposed to come from the circumstance that ordinarily, one might expect the three data points "Normal sports", "Nascar" and "Formula One" to be spread out over the scope of a graph like this, but adding "Rocket launches" makes the other t...

Re: 1672: "Women on 20s"

I think it would be easier to just devalue the currency by a factor of 5... People are too stupid to round to the nearest 5, and don't bother mentioning that what we're talking about is an integer number of hundredths of a dollar because that's way too much for people to think about. First, that's ...

Re: 1672: "Women on 20s"

Maybe it's because I'm getting old or less of a man or both, but I really just don't see "being a badass" as a redeeming feature, like, at all. Jackson super liked murdering people in duels, and he was good at it. I wish he'd been less good at it, so he would've just been dead. Being a ba...

Re: 1672: "Women on 20s"

What are the security arguments for not being able to issue bills in a different order? I'm kind of with Randal on this one-- this seems like an easy problem to solve... From what I've read, the 10 has gone the longest without a redesign, which makes it the top target for counterfeiters. It's basic...

Re: 1672: "Women on 20s"

... he famously said, " You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the eternal God, I will rout you out." I'll admit, that's a pretty awesome quote. Ok, so another mark in the bad ass column, but he was still a bit of a genocidal autocrat. I've never understood ...

Re: 1653: "United States Map"

California still partially overlaps its old position. Like all of SoCal is still Cal, just... WesCal now? Yeah it does overlap, but its CG moved further than several of the others. Speaking of which, would you call the middle of your state MezCal? The middle of the state is called "NorCal"...

"Cook bread"
It's that kind of attention to detail that makes the plot believable.
