Re: 1325: "Rejection"

Given my experience in the "possesses no value to any woman on the planet, for any reason" camp, I might be able to help. Whenever you feel the urge to claim that women only want [whatever], instead mentally repeat "women want literally anyone other than myself" until said urge p...

Re: Syria Civil War Threatens to Spread

It's wrong not to go to Congress because it neuters the War Powers Act further and hands dangerous power to future administrations. Obama is the bad precedent president. That precedent long predates Obama, he's just continuing the trend. Remember that the last time the US properly declared war was ...

Re: Three kids kill a white guy

Just as no amount of blood and death will convince many Americans to have a real conversation about the cultural factors that precipitate all of this. Instead, bodies will be buried and more lives destroyed, and the Powers that Be will remain silent, until they find a tragedy they can make somethin...

Realistically, we can do what's being done in Yemen right now: have the government issue travel advisories to limit visitors. That forces the UAE to either get its shit together or lose tourism income.

Looking at the list of closures, the government might as well just leave most of them shut down. It's not like they were accomplishing much diplomatically. I do wonder if this is a wag the dog maneuver, though. A distraction from the NSA thing, perhaps, or an attempted sop to the conservatives still...

Personally, I think it's safer to use heavy weapons, like tanks, apcs, or aircraft. Those require maintenance, are easier to track, and have a bigger initial punch. Schematics are also liquid. With your idea, we'd be seeing knock-offs (if not carbon copies) of US tanks, apcs, and aircraft blowing s...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-22908836 Obama decided that the "red line" was crossed and declared the US would start actively supporting the Syrian rebels (apparently just CIA advisors and supplies, for now). Syrian officials reacted predictably. Vietnam round...three? four?...
