https://forum.sparkfun.com/download/file.php?id=540&mode=view In the attached circuit, I have a comparator ( LM393 ) that takes a sine wave (from pint "A") and produces a 5v square wave (at point "B"). Then it is fed to a limiter circuit to condition it for input to a TTL 3....

You mean this kind of transistor version ? http://www.usconverters.com/images/rs232-pinout.jpg I've designed an RS232-to-TTL converter board based on TI's MAX232 IC that I plan to use to program a few custom Arduino boards that I have. As have literally everyone else I've met who has ever done this....
