Re: 1474: "Screws"

I always wondered why nobody ever thought to invent a screw head that's just two slots, all the way to the edges, forming a cross. That way it won't slip out, it won't strip, it doesn't particularly matter if you don't use exactly the right size, and it's backward compatible with slot screwdrivers ...

1180: "Virus Venn Diagram"

Within five minutes of the Singularity appearing, somebody will suggest defragging it.

Not to be rude, but isn't this the format suggested?

Re: 1108: "Cautionary Ghost"

If you're looking for actual career advice, you've perhaps come to the wrong place. Informally, though, I'll take a shot at answering... Thank you, that was really informative, but the main question remains. How do I translate bokstavligen into English, i. e. what do I use when I want to literally ...

Re: 1108: "Cautionary Ghost"

As a non-native English speaker, I must say that these kinds of things are what make translations very difficult sometimes. In Swedish we have bokstavligen , which means "to the letter", and bildligen , which means "as pictured". These can be quite tricky to translate since the c...

Re: 1056: Felidae

Why would an ocelot win against a lynx? The lynxes I've encountered were about 20 kg I'd say, but they can be almost twice that size I'm told. How large are ocelots then? I thought they were tiny.

Re: 1005: "SOPA"

Why do these laws have such ridiculous names? In Swedish "sopa" means "a piece of garbage" and "pipa" means "to squeek" amongst other meanings.

Re: 0993: "Brand Awareness"

A store in Sweden used to have packaging on their own brand very much like this. Comletely white packaging with a blue square and white text on it. Like this http://fredrikedin.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/blavitt.jpg Think they still have it on a few products. Yup, they started it 1979 I think and ...

Re: 0990: “Plastic Bags”

I read on the homepage for The Swedish Plastics and Chemicals Federation that a standard plastic bag weighing less than 30 g could carry 20 kg. Are the American bags of lesser quality or is he buying some heavy stuff? Maybe all circles are kettlebells without handles?

How would you pronounce the following:

A ... ten or a (as in the name of the letter "a")
1A ... one-a, twentysix or a-teen

Funny Comic. I cant decide if it is suposed to be a joke about how similar they look, or how pregnant women have a higher body temperature. Probably both, come to think of it. EDIT: also, he's using that thermometer wrong if its making a bump on his cheek, they go under the toungue. It's not a bump...

I hope more people understood that. I tried to be obvious but entertaining. "Entertain thy neighbour..." could be an interesting motto.

Re: 0854: "Learning to Cook"

Cooking isn't hard, it's utterly selfish. There are people who make their living from cooking. I don't want to ruin that by cooking myself. Besides, it's disrespectful to farmers, fishermen and other food producers not letting professionals handle the product of their hard work.
