Re: Post your 2010 AP/IB Scores!

My teacher told me that I got a 5 on AP Language and Composition. I was surprised, seeing as I only fully finished one of the essays. That's the only one I took this year.

Re: AP vs IB

I would recommend HL Mathematics over Calculus BC, if only because of the options. Basically, for IB, you do the core curriculum, and then get to choose (unless your school chooses for you, which seems possible) one of four additional topics to cover in depth: Statistics and Probability; Sets, Relat...

Re: Awesome Student Quotes

One particular person in my history class seems prone to coming up with these kinds of quotes. Some of the highlights: "Africans don't have emotions!" [He's from Nigeria.] A later date: Him: (something about being angry at his brother) Someone else: "I thought Africans didn't have emo...

Re: What **should** you be doing right now?

I should be "comparing and contrasting the effect of liberation on the characters of Lopakhin and Firs" in Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. Instead I'm... here. Not that there's a problem with here, but this post certainly won't get me any closer to an A.

Re: What made you feel incredibly stupid?

So I'm on this knowledge bowl team, and we go on TV and answer questions and such. Well, the question was about the British spelling of "aluminum". So excited am I to actually know the answer to this question, that instead of "aluminium", I write down "alimunium". That ...

Re: Subjects you wish you were good at?

I wish I was better at art. I like to think I do alright at actually drawing things (well, I actually don't really think I'm all too good at that, but I'm at the level that's expected of me), but I can't do conceptual work at all. I just don't have the kind of motivation that it takes to make a work...

Re: Your Schedule

I'm a junior in high school. I'm in IB, and therefore all my classes span two years. (Which is actually quite annoying; I wanted to take another year of chemistry along with physics, but IB filled up my schedule. I think I may be able to squeeze it in next year, but we'll see.) HL stands for Higher ...

Re: Happy New Year to all XKCD people

My resolution is actually to post around here more often. I guess this is a start.

Also, start doing all that community service that I should be about halfway done with by now.

Re: Awesome Teacher Quotes

My Chemistry teacher last year used quite a few less-than-orthodox comparisons to explain various concepts. By far the most memorable was the time she placed two stuffed moles quite suggestively, one on top of the other, and proceeded to describe stoichiometry as "mole on mole action".

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Old? You call that *old*? ;) Compared to me, and compared to the rest of the Americas, yes. But compared to the history of human civilization, not so much. What did you write about? It was shaping up to be your standard run-of-the-mill fantasy novel (Elves and magic and dragons, oh my!), but I didn...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hey there. I stumbled onto xkcd a while ago, and loved it. I've been lurking around here for a bit, and just decided to register. So, a little bit about myself. I'm a sixteen year old guy, and I live in the good ole US of A. I'm currently in high school, working my way through the IB program, which ...
