Re: 1190: "Time"

Perhaps Randal is slows down the action at night to give people a chance to sleep. A few of the less exciting newpix coincided with night time. (sitting around time, cueball building, zoom time, and cueball building again)

Kill Hitler

http://i48.tinypic.com/28w2y2t.png My friends and I got into a discussion on what would happen in an alternate universe if we did kill Hitler and whether or not it would make the world overall better or worse. It's a curious thought experiment with no right or wrong answer. Following the Great War ...

Re: How much money?

The problem we ran in to is similar to that of mfb. In order to maximize your expected payoff, you would want to pick the largest number possible(infinity), however, in doing that, you're making it unlikely that you'll get any money at all. And at what point would it be better to not worry about get...

How much money?

This is a question I came up with and asked my friends who couldn't give me a satisfactory answer. A mysterious person tells you to pick any positive integer, x . He picks a random whole number smaller than x . If you guess it, he will give you that $ x ^2. What number should you choose for x , why?...

Three Guns

You're in a room with two other people and three guns. All three guns have infinite ammunition.. All three people know that one gun has an accuracy of 100%, one has an accuracy of 50% and one has an accuracy of 33.33...%. You agree to decide the shooting order with a fair dice roll. Assuming each pe...

Re: Do I have the best solution?

Well, I apologize in advance if I totally misread the question since my answer is even simpler.
If you have x people you want to invite and it takes y minutes to invite them, shouldn't it just take x times y (x*y) time to call everyone without chaining(which is very much faster than x^y).

Re: Logic Poll

Looks neat. Question: one of the questions asks "What % of people...". Do you want an answer in the form of "x%" or just "x" (e.g. if I think the correct answer is 101%, should I write "101" or "101%" in the box)? You should write it as x (Without t...
