I know, I saw this thread and thought FIRST was about to take a nose dive. Glad that's not the case, but as an engineer I'm always sad when testing goes awry, especially to the extent of death.

Autocad and Orthographic Projection

Specifically Orthographic projections/more complex Orthographic Views, which I can't seem to find a good tutorial for or wrap my head around. The actual Autocad isn't too bad, but trying to recreate some of the objects is giving me an issue. Specifically cones and circles. Here's one of the things I...

I used that line once, or something similar, I think I said Animal Planet, just for future reference, it doesn't work.

Re: Discovery Channel held hostage by human-hating animal lo

Mocking an alive person for being stupid, and finding out in the middle of doing so that his stupidity got him killed is going to give me pause. It doesn't mean I believe him to be above criticism or ridicule, just that the situation I was mocking became more serious, so I laid off the humour. I ac...

Re: Drinking Water Aids Diets

But what about diet water?! It is butter diluted with water to one part in a million and then one part in a million again. It effectively sucks all the cholesterol from your arteries. Now, along this line of thought, can we dilute everything with Butter? Or better yet, bacon grease? I mean, it migh...

Re: Controversial Montana Sex-Education Proposal

You seriously believe that 8th grade is an appropriate age to explain different sex positions to adolescents? That may be "early" enough in some ultra-conservative bible belt village in the middle of nowhere, but at least compared to European urban culture it's too late in every aspect (m...

Re: Feds shut down 73000 blogs

Yay, the blog I used for my school work is now shut down. This kind of feels like a parent putting ultra-strict internet blocks on their childs computer, sure, they intend to stop pornographic and violent content from getting in, but usually only wind up blocking websites the child would need to acc...

Durable Camera that handles vibrations

So... I'll admit to knowing next to nothing about cameras, so most of the terminology is above me (Though, if someone would like to explain it, or give me a link, I'd love it). I'll try and just lay out what I am looking for the best I can - I am looking for a smaller size camera, for around or less...

Re: Australia would like to see your porn collection

One thing I find particularly interesting about that kinda stuff is the child blocks I had when I was a kid. My parents put some child blocks on my machine when I was entering puberty, so when I did hit the age to find porn, I'd search for sex, and any link I clicked off of google would be blocked. ...

Oddly enough, it still took me until JayAr's post to realize this is the same thread I read 2 years ago.

36 hours awake 12 hours asleep

I was debating between here or the Science subforum, if a mod thinks this would be more suited for the Science section go ahead and throw it over there please. So a friend of mine has been doing a weird schedule this week, he's been pretty much doing 36 hours awake and 12 hours asleep. A few people ...

Re: Rush Limbaugh Rushed to Hospital

I can't believe you guys are doing this. It's despicable. I know you hate him, and his show, and his views, bla, bla, and bla, but are you seriously wishing that he dies? Seriously!!?? Very few people here are stating they hope he dies, so the generalization of your statement is kind of unwarranted...

Taking a "Gap Year"

So my SATs were fairly bad, and I started my college season a little late, making it so I cannot retake the SATs in time to have them attached to my College Application. My plan now is to take next year off and spend this next semester working really hard on studying and bringing up my SAT scores so...

Camera's for Kite Photography?

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this, but I can't find a more suitable place. What cameras would be recommended for Kite Photography? According to Randal at http://www.xkcd.com/kite, the entire kite must be less than 5lbs or else you must notify the FAA. So taking that into consideration,...

Re: Think: What color do you associate Chemistry with?

I associate Chemistry with red, probably because all of my chemistry binders have been red (A decision I made back in middle school when I had Intro to Chem, and I still associated Chemistry with blowing stuff up (Ok, to be honest, I still do that)). My Biology binders have always been blue, and phy...

I always enjoyed problems on the board as you enter class, as long as they are done right. My Science teacher would always put one up on the board either reviewing a topic we covered last class or introducing a topic we would cover in that class. The answers themselves were never graded, instead she...

GLBT Volunteering on College Applications?

My friend came to me with a dilemma, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what to tell him. He is applying to MIT, a 4.0 Honors student with well over 100 volunteer hours (Among other things to make his resume glow), but he has one problem - A good portion of his Volunteer hours come from vo...

Something I am curious of, because I often use Composition Notebooks to take notes in, and therefor use both sides of the paper. How are the Pilot Pens and the Uniballs on showing through the paper? This is the entire reason I've stopped using fountain pens, while I love them, their tendency to sho...
