Re: 0858: "Milk"

WTF @ her lack of legs in the 3rd panel. In an interesting phenomenon, females typically feel comfortable in a cross-legged position. One would assume it to be a difficult position to assume in an armchair. Not really, in a good lazy boy, it's super comfy and easy to get into (assuming flexibility)...

Re: 0849: "Complex Conjugate"

don't you usually multiply by 1, i.e. complex-conjugate/complex conjugate? if you go around arbitrarily multiplying stuff by the complex-conjugate you ruin the integrity of your equations. If this is the case, the punchline really should be 'the denominator just got real'.....not as funny though.

That image I got from a journal paper that describes a method for predicting the performance of a VAWT using a multiple streamtubes method. The paper can be found here http://prod.sandia.gov/techlib/acce...

Re: 0812: Glass

You know what this made me think of? This episode of Yes Dear when the guy's on the roof and accidentally falls off. The mom says "Hey are you alright?" and he says "Yea, I was just testing the gravity. It still works don't worry". If only she had jumped out from behind the door ...

Re: Which language?

My first programming language was FORTRAN (per my ME curriculum). I then taught myself Python because I had learned so many good things about it. I would suggest starting with Python and a (free!) book such as "How to think Like a Computer Scientist" which introduces some very good and cri...

Re: "The Sun" Discussion

Wow. Registered to the site just to say, this is the most I've laughed at an XKCD since "Sudo make me a sandwhich".

note: I've read a majority of these retroactively, and may of them via the "random" button (which doesn't seem to be all that random for me...)
