I prefer mechanical pencils mainly because the sharpeners at my school = suck. I also don't currently own a sharpener.

Any breakage in mechanical pencils on my part was of my own fault. They don't work well when bent 8)

I've got one:

It was a sci-fi-ish movie where the earth was dying because something was wrong with it's core. So they tunneled to the core in some train-like thing and set off nukes (which magically fixed everything).
