Re: 1479: "Troubleshooting"

I literally have a work-related app that I can't use when I work from home, because it opens a dialog menu offscreen (after using it in my normal 2-monitor-through-laptop-dock work setup).

Killing the App/Computer reboot doesn't fix it.

This has literally changed my life.

Vim functionality that's hard to replicate in emacs

Re: "Principle of Explosion" Discussion

I'm not sure if this is the place for it, but the website seems to be broken around this comic.

http://www.xkcd.com links to the 703 comic from wednesday, and the "next" button doesn't browse to this new one.

http://xkcd.com works fine.

Someone move this if it's in the wrong place!

Xkcd idea: If a picture is worth a thousand words...

If a picture is worth a thousand words, assuming a standard framerate how does the average movie stack up against books?

I don't have the drive to do the calculation, but I bet this idea could be turned into a pretty good comment.

Discuss.

Re: Tabs vs Spaces

Always spaces. Set VIM to expand tab to spaces. Also map the tab key to word completion (if you're typing a word) Add the following to your .vimrc: function! Tab_Or_Complete() if col('.')>1 && strpart( getline('.'), col('.')-2, 3 ) =~ '^\w' return "\<C-N>" else return "\<Tab>&...
