Re: 1720: "Horses"

Can some with a ranch run a head-to-head competition between a horse and Tesla Autopilot's Summon feature. Which one will reach the barn first? fastest? Injuries to the competitor incur time penalties.

Re: 1625: Substitutions 2

The xkcd #1288: Substitutions ('Cloud To Butt' Fork) Firefox addon was released on Nov 16, 2013; your wait will be something like: -1 × ( <days until it's installed> + 779 days ). ...

Re: 1598: "Salvage"

Some folks are just really overthinking it. Speaking of which, those are some impressive helicopters. The RMS Titanic had a 52,310 ton displacement; assuming that the bow section includes 40% of that, it would weigh 18,982,000 kg (41,848,000 lb). The Mil Mi-26 "is the largest & most powerf...

…if you drop electronic equipment in sea water, you first need to soak it in fresh water before you go to the drying phase. … The guy who taught me [that] also admitted that it's very difficult to actually bring yourself to go through with it. A friend's phone slipped off a bench seat below deck an...

Next up: combine Height and Depth to visualize sizes from the Planck length up to the observable universe. Added stops on the way down could include other baryons, quarks, DNA, flea egg , etc... and stops on the way up might show star sizes , galaxy morphology , and the large scale structure of the ...

Re: 1331: "Frequency"

Is it just me that's frightened by how much more frequent births are than deaths? Maybe. It isn't scary if you put it in context: given 250 births per minute and 105 deaths every minute [improved source needed] , you only increase the world population by 76 million every year. On a population of ov...

I was wondering that, too. Mustard, perhaps? I'm not sure what that label is indicating.

The mustard apparently disappeared from the canonical version; is there an archive of it somewhere?

I was hoping for a mention of the Hyperloop proposal, but then realized that SpaceX' proposed pods only travel at a paltry 0.3 km/s.

I'm pretty sure that the inversed p formula isn't quite right. Shouldn't it be: \sqrt[3]{\frac{\ln{(T-\text{(current date)}+e^3)}-3}{20.3444}} ? I think the artist is definitely wrong. But I made it: \sqrt[3]{\frac{\ln{(\text{(current date)}+e^3-T)}-3}{20.3444}} ? ht...
