Re: Michio Kaku's Sci Fi Science

I had never heard of this show, but I've read his book: Physics of the Impossible. It seems like it's the same kind of thing, except in video form.

I might have to check it out; the book was really good.

Re: Sleep

I find that whenever I can't sleep, it's because I'm going from a brightly lit room to total darkness, without any "transition time". An hour or two before you plan on going to bed, turn out the lights and light a couple of candles instead. I read somewhere that the warmer, softer light wi...

The tongues on my shoes will not stay fucking straight. They always slide to the sides, which causes slight discomfort!

Having browsed the news section of BMEzine mainly for the pictures most nullificatiosn or pen0r removals are pretty neat.

Re: 42 [The Hitchhiker's Thread]

http://isittowelday.com/ Towel day is coming up fast! Anyone planning anything awesome? I think I'm going to equip my towel and bathrobe, and stand on the side of the freeway with a cardboard sign that reads "Alpha Centauri" on one side (my hitchhiking destination), and "Don't Panic&...

Re: 42 - Eoin Colfer Is a Complete Kneebiter

I borrowed And Another Thing... from a friend of mine. I was incredibly wary about reading it, but finally decided to give it a try. I got about 50 pages or so into it, and quit. It just wasn't the same, and I didn't want my favourite books of all time to end on an un-Douglas Adams note.

I bought some Miracle Berries from ThinkGeek a while ago, and I remember orange juice and grapefruit tasting the best out of all the things I tried. I could probably have eaten a dozen grapefruits; so delicious!

Re: Where The Wild Things Are

I loved WTWTA. I dressed as Max for Halloween, and I made sure I had my costume done ahead of time so I could wear it to the theater on opening night :D . Also, did anyone else feel really scared all of a sudden when Carol tore off Douglas' arm and sand came out? I don't know what it was, but that p...

Re: Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon and Mark Kozelek

I'm a huge Modest Mouse fan, and Sun Kil Moon's album Tiny Cities blew my mind. It is easily one of my top 5 favourite albums of all time. The songs are different enough that they can still be classified as their own 'song', but similar enough that you can still tell that they were written by MM. (P...

If it's required to be double-spaced, start writing it single-spaced, and then double-space it at the end. The result is almost orgasmic.

Re: Beating the System

High schools and post-secondary institutions place too much stress on memorization of little facts and actions and not enough on things like soft-skills and people skills. I'm currently in a Computer Science course, and in probably 90% of my classes I'm forced to memorize things that, when I'm worki...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts (Random like the plague)

The appropriate costume for punching a whale is that t-shirt with a picture of a shark and an ape giving each other a high-five in front of an explosion. I think it was an ape, anyway -- but there's definitely a shark. I tried to find that in WhiteNinja's merch store yesterday and it's not there an...

Re: This is a poll for those who know that ghosts don't exis

Good point, just-mark. This is why films like The Blair Witch Project and Jaws were so freaky. You never actually saw the monster or attacker, which left it up to your imagination to create an image or idea of the killer. I don't have a source for this, but I would imagine that children with more vi...

Re: Ghosts

I think the idea of ghosts and other 'supernatural' beings is pretty ridiculous, which is why I can't stand all the supernatural ghost-hunting shows on Discovery Channel. They're bundling superstitious quackery in with other credible science/Earth shows, therefore most people who can't be bothered t...
