### Re: How can I tell if Im good at "Real Math"? + Emphasis anx

I think it's promising that you aced logic, though I'm not sure what a CC logic course looks like. CC courses an be far easier than university. The logic class I took started out with informal fallacies and valid/invalid arguments. Then we abstracted the arguments into a symbolic form, Then we did ...

I pulled out my course catalog, the applied math and general math degrees look very similar. What are the notable differences?

### How can I tell if Im good at "Real Math"? + Emphasis anxiety

Hello forums. I've finished my time at community college where I've finished the calculus line, differential equations, and an intro to logic class. I aced them all, and was chosen to be a math tutor for the school. In the fall, I'm transferring to a university, where I'll be taking a 300 level stat...

### Ordinary Differential equations

Hello. I am taking a class about ordinary differential equations and I am having some trouble. I don't understand about half of the lectures and the book is very unhelpful. Its from the sixties and doesn't have a solution manual or anything as far as I can tell. Does anyone know of a good online res...

I'm so sad. The tezzeret I traded away a few weeks ago is now worth fifty bucks. Also I had some stoneforge mystics up on ebay that sold before Paris. I could be fifty bucks richer right now =(

### Re: magic cards dumped; general magic discussion ensues

I'm so mad right now. I traded my tezzeret, promo hero of bladehold, and a knight exemplar for a primeval titan and a foil squadron hawk. The guy had me convinced it was a good trade (we estimated the titan at \$40 and the hawk at \$2-3. Wrong.) and I asked a friend and he said it was about even, so I...

I went to two pre-releases yesterday and came in 9th out of ~32 people with phyrexian (this one was during the day, had lots of people). Then I went mirran and only got 8/~20. My phyrexian pulls were really insane and if I hadn't made the play mistakes that I did, I think I could have ranked much hi...

I always get Chaotic-Neutral on these things. And if/when I roleplay, I always do a Chaotic-Neutral character.

Thanks guys! You guys are always such a big help! @Lightvector: I love your explanation. I tried looking up permutations and combinations after Quaanol sparked my memory. For some reason your explanation really helped out more. Thanks a ton for taking the time to write that. I play games where quest...

Hi. I play a trading card game with some people every so often and through some discussion I've come to wonder what the odds of a certain even happening are, and how I'd calculate them. I think this is pretty basic but my time spent googling and checking wikipedia didn't really help. So I hope you g...

I took an IQ test as a kid. It was just a bunch of shapes that I had to find patterns in.

Mine started out with me chilling out at night. I was on the internet and decided to watch a movie. The movie was popular in my little dream world, but I've never heard of it in the physical world. The weird thing was that my consciousness shifted between me watching the movie, and the guy who was a...

I skipped reading a lot of this thread but I'm going to post anyway. I LOVE making the world a weirder place. I wore a trench coat as my winter jacket all of last year. ### Stuck on this derivative

I just graduated high school with a very mediocre knowledge of math so when I realized I would be taking calculus in college in the fall I panicked a bit and bought a basic book about the subject so I had a bit of knowledge going into the class. I was working my way through the chapter on derivative...

I could be horribly off here and wind up sounding like an ignorant sexist, so excuse me if I do. I've been trying to get a basic job in something like retail or a restaurant this summer. I just graduated from high school and during high school every single one of my female friends found jobs. Some e...

Thanks guys. The issue was that my teacher wrote down -180 instead of +180, which I then blindly copied down and repeated because I suck. All fixed now.
Thanks!

### Changing complex coordinates to trigonometric form.

I'm doing an assignment that is asking me to convert complex coordinates into trigonometric form. I've attempted to do solve it, and I got negative numbers. I asked my math teacher to look over it and he got the same answer. The issue is that the teacher's book gave a totally different answer. Here ...
