Re: Non-sexist hard scifi: does it exist?

Charles Stross's books are some of the hardest SF out there, and they contain a good number of female protagonists that are just as capable as the males around them, if not more.

Re: Go Away Dub Watchers: The Proper Anime Thread

Watched the first Ghost in the Shell movie this morning. Kicked ass. Though I gotta say most of the gratuitous nudity was not necessary. >_> I'll probably watch the second one tomorrow.

Re: Books that made you cry

The Amber Spyglass did affect me. It didn't make me cry, but the ending was so sad I was pretty much depressed for the rest of the day.
Spoiler:
Lyra and Will get separated :(

I really need to read that trilogy again. Such awesome books.

Re: What is your favourite book?

Accelerando by Charles Stross, indisputably. >_> I'll just copy a review I posted on another forum. Effort sucks! I'm a teen yet I find "teen" fiction so childish and vapid. :/ The only books that really get my attention have to present radical new ideas, be written amazingly, or both. Whi...

Re: Computers and water are not friends. :/

A USB keyboard works fine, and I did immediately unplug it and take out the battery after my episode of retardedness. >_> Would rubbing alcohol still be effective at this stage?

Computers and water are not friends. :/

Sooooooooo. This afternoon I spilled water on my EeePC 900. After some freaking out, a few minutes with the blowdrier(On the lowest heat setting; I'm not completely retarded :P) and about an hour in front of the fan in my room, some things are still kinda wonky. The C key just does not work. And one...

Re: Touhou!

I love Touhou. And shmups in general. I've been into danmaku for around 3 years, I'm pretty sure. Imperishable Night and Mountain of Faith are probably my favorites. Love the music/remixes too; Demetori is amazing.

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Oh hi. I'm David, 15, living in a redneck town in rural west Michigan. I've been a fan of XKCD for probably a year; the article on cracked.com about "the greatest webcomics ever" or whatever brought me here. I'm a huge linux fan, no matter how nooby I am at it. Other things I enjoy are ret...

Re: Recommend a book

If you like science fiction, then the Xeelee Sequence by Stephen Baxter is proooobably as good as it gets. Like a huge mythos of books and short stories, some of which were only serialized in Interzone and Analog magazines. Like it goes from the Big Bang all the way to the collision of the Milky Way...
