Re: 1324:"Weather"

18 mile grid Global Forecast System??? I think you're right that GFS is the global forecast system. My guess on 18Z is that it refers to the forecast made at 6pm Zulu time, that is, 6pm GMT/UTC. I assume verify refers to the forecast coming true? GFS (Global Forcast System) is a numerical weather s...

Re: problem with quicksort

I think the problem is that as written it cannot deal with repeated numbers. The Partition routine can end in an infinite loop trying to partition a section of an array that contains only one value. I think that if you change the first of those while conditions to pivot<=high_vac then it will work ...

problem with quicksort

i am using this C++ quicksort code that i got from some webpage: #include<process.h> #include<iostream> #include<conio.h> #include<stdlib.h> int Partition(int low,int high,int arr[]); void Quick_sort(int low,int high,int arr[]); int main(){ using namespace std; int *a,n,low,high,i; cout<<"/****...

Re: I cant manage to solve this

How many different ways can you get a triple number? 10 What's the probability of that happening one one specific throw? 1/100 i never studied probability (i'll start this year). I dont know how to combine probabilities of independant events. what do you get joshz? Ok. So I guess this isn't homework...

Not really a "math" quote but what the hell. From a D&D book. "Draconic is the language of magic. Celestial and infernal, the languages of the gods. I speak math, the very language of creation itself" - Geometer edit: (The wordfilter somehow takes the essence away... xD) edit...

Never had any of those dreams.... (although i dont have a car so its logical).

i really doubt any of my dreams are "common". They usually consist of me in some amazingly bizarre situation (giving a concert in hogwarts or strip dancing in tatooine)

I cant manage to solve this

I know this is a really really lame problem, but somehow the solution is escaping me.

here it is:

By throwing 100 times a 1000-sided (from 000 to 999) dice... what is the probability of getting at least one triple number (000,111,222,333,444,etc).

(first post btw...yay!)
