Re: 1067: "Pressures"

Well nothing I said put either one above the other. I think that's a pretty stupid question to ask, frankly. Who really cares? But congratulations, I guess. I'm content with thinking we're better off for having both of them in our history. well, ask any scientist, it's pretty unanimous and obvious ...

Re: 1067: "Pressures"

also, most of that comic was mostly right.. Edison was a bastard who cheated people around him (including Tesla), probably "invented" a few things, but signed his name on a lot more patents from his workers. Tesla was a brilliant, if naive (and later literally mad) scientist that didn't ev...

Re: 1067: "Pressures"

Is it possible that the massive majority of the world's population that recognizes Edison as a genius is wrong and this guy is one of the enlightened few who gets it? i believe it's only the US that recognizes Edison as a greater "inventor" than Tesla, because he was a successful business...

Re: 1007: "Sustainable"

it's late, but i don't think you can use a log graph to make this kind of prediction? if it wasn't log based, then it would be a hockey stick that asymptotically approaches 100%, but never reaches it.. but using a different scale doesn't change the numbers, so something must be wrong with my thinkin...

I and a friend deduced that there is a metaconspiracy: a body somewhere generating fake conspiracy theories in order to give conspiracy theories a bad name. Thus when a huge and damaging truth leaks out it is lumped in with all the other conspiracy theories and many otherwise intelligent people don...

I was contemplating joining G+ when I came across the filter bubble: http://www.thersa.org/rss/rsa-audio/ http://www.thersa.org/__data/assets/file/0006/407355/20110623EliPariser.mp3 where Google guesses what I was looking for, and avoids showing things that will broaden me. this is just a little to...

Re: 0919: "Tween Bromance"

Maybe it's not the norm (in which case, never mind), but I understand it simply to mean searching online for something. I've even seen the term used in reference to Bing, although there's a distinct possibility said person was using the term ironically. i have even heard it used by some microsoft p...

for all of those arguing against this new evil thing "irregardless", let me just say: inflammable means flammable!?! (yeah, i know the latin reasoning behind it, but to any non-native english speaker, or anyone that didn't learn latin in school, it's just bonkers ; ) and about guesstimate,...

Re: 0831: "Weather Radar"

Similarly, if you give people an MP3 player and put it on random play, then if it plays the same song twice before it plays all the songs (or sometimes if it even plays the same *artist* anywhere close to another song by that artist), then they get the idea that it's biased or non-random. However, ...

Re: "HDTV" Discussion

it's a little more complicated than that.. And yeah, 24fps is pathetic. People would be upset if some video games ran at such pathetic frame rates, yet, for some reason, it's perfectly acceptable for Blu-Ray movies, the so-called "Best way to experience movies at home. Ever". Yeah right. ...
