Re: Pronunciation, Spelling and Grammar. How important are t

To me, it is important how many people are going to read/hear the mistake. Many people don't seem to realize that using bad grammar and spelling doesn't just make them look bad or make their meaning unclear, but also makes it sound "right" a little bit more to every person that reads/hears...

Re: The Rules of Life

Never be afraid of doing something you know/strongly suspect you'll like just because others don't do it. Similarly, don't be embarrassed about liking what you like. Don't be so busy planning for the future that you forget to enjoy the time you have now. You never know when you're going to get hit b...

Re: Do you make up stories in your head?

I do this and have all my life. I have a lot of them, and they are really intricate and long. I usually just use them to fill time while I'm waiting for something. Usually they're about me, but a different version of me (not what I would say or do in real life), but plenty of time they're about othe...

Re: Awesome Thread (to balance Rant Thread)

Tonight we might get a thunderstorm. I love thunderstorms, especially at night. My house has a view overlooking the valley, and it's a great place to watch thunderstorms. Also, they make me sleep very well since I feel all warm and safe while the wind is blowing outside. Seeing the boyfriend in a fe...

Re: How'd you come up with your username(s)?

I saw ipreferpi in a list of palindromes once, and I love palindromes and pi, so there you have it. If ipreferpi is taken, I often use the names of my pets. For example my email has my dog dexter's name in it.

Re: What were your dreams last night?

I dreamed that I was zombie barbie for halloween. I had a blonde wig, pretty dress and heels, and all of my skin was green-gray and rotting... I guess now I know what I'm going to be for halloween! (I wish I was that creative when awake)

Re: A Mostly Female Workforce in the Future?

The lack of representation of women in STEM fields is also largely by the choice of women. Very few apply for these kinds of jobs. Speaking from my experience as a woman in school (studying CS), I think it's not just choice, but discrimination in school. Most women are discouraged by peers and teac...

Re: Board games anyone?

Scotland yard is one of my favorites, and I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it yet. It's especially fun one-on-one where one player controls four or five detectives.

Re: Girls in Gaming

First, I'd like to say that, from my experiences at least (anecdotal evidence ftw), most female gamers, child gamers, or older gamers, or members of any other group that is not the "target audience" play more casual and semi-casual games than the more hardcore games. I think this is becaus...
