Re: 1742: "Will It Work"

App Stores being on the same level as package managers? That can't be right... Has Randall ever heard of dependency hell? PS: Yes I know the concept of dependencies and package managers is the academically correct way to conserve space blah blah blah, but the ability to have an entire app packaged a...

Re: 1169: "Expedition"

I had the exact same problem (adventure?) with Test Drive Unlimited. The zoom-in/out-with-the-scroll-wheel feature doesn't work with laptop touchpads (even the ones that work fine with Firefox, Adobe Reader and any other app), so you are essentially stuck with the default zoom level, which is pretty...

Re: 1118: "Microsoft"

Microsoft aren't even allowed to include Windows Media Player in the European release (marked as N). Microsoft is allowed to include Windows Media Player in the European release, I know because I live in Greece and I 've bought the OEM DSP version of Win7 Home Premium and a friend of mine has bough...

Re: 1118: "Microsoft"

Well, the difference now to then is that Micro$oft (hihi) had an actual near monopoly of the market, if they had gotten away with bundling their own browser with their own standards, then changing the standards to where the internet could only be browsed with their proprietary software they could h...

My routine is: on body -> washer & drying -> closet (underwear and bed linings only) -> on body -> washer & drying -> closet (underwear and bed linings) -> on body -> washer and drying -> closet (underwear and bed linings) and ironing the pile of clothes that has accumulated on the sofa. I n...

Re: 1050: "Forgot Algebra"

Problem is, that if you live in a country (Greece in my case) that's literally swamped with illegal immigrants from the Middle East and Africa that work for a dish of lentils (and live on the street), you 've got to learn algebra in order to squeeze yourself in some university and be able to earn a ...

Re: 1020: "Orion Nebula"

Astronomers don't care about the fictional shapes we drew on the sky by arbitarly joining the stars. They might call that bunch of stars "Orion" out of tradition, but they don't care about the shape and how human it looks. Astrologers (=fraudsters) do, because they want to convince you the...

With SI having defined 1Megabyte=1000Kilobyte, 1000 is now the round number (not 1024).

Re: 0981: "Porn Folder"

In Unix systems, placing a file called “-r“ in the home directory will result in deletion of all subfolders if the user types rm * to delete all files that are not inside subfolders, or if the user tries to delete all files in the home directory containing the letter “r“ (rm *r*). Don‘t know if it w...

Unviewable in Android phones. Ok with the alt text, but now i can‘t view the picture at all. Someone should give Randall a touchscreen smartphone/tablet so that he realizes how crap his site looks in those devices.

Cant read alt text on touchscreen devices (ex Android phone)

You cant “mouse over“ on touchscreen devices, and most browsers for these devices (ex iOS or Android default browser) dont have a button to show the image properties. Sure, you can go to the forums and read the alt text, but it would be better if the alt text was right below the image (you can hide ...

Wow! Email addresses exposed in a public forum, and completely unobscured. I would recommend putting a picture of a red bow over those addresses, but harvest bots probably wouldnt understand the gesture. Anyway, I didnt expect that from xkcd members.

Re: 0888: Heaven

Tetris is neither heaven nor hell. Tetris is life. You play, and you can do well or poorly, but you can never win ; the best you can ever do is not have lost yet , and the longer you manage to hold on, the more crap it throws at you faster and faster, and the harder it gets to play it well and keep...

Re: 0888: Heaven

I once downloaded a Tetris game where, once in a while, it dropped a "super piece" that could be used to take out ALL the other pieces that where on the table. I am not kidding. Yeah it was a super easy game. And you couldn't even disable the piece. It ruined the whole game for me.

Re: 0878: "Model Rail"

Yeah, but each model is a subsampled version of the previous (a model train has less detail that a real train, and a model of the model train has less detail than the model train etc), so at one point, the entire train layout will be just one pixel errr... just one dot of the brush. I actually tried...

Advertisers, on a whole, are idiots, and they think everyone else is stupid. No, they know people are stupid, or at least gullible; notice that they still run these ads, which means they must be working. Advertisers are stupid. Here in Europe, everybody at the computer lab gets a good laugh when th...
